Does anyone here have experience with this piece of hardware? They're out of stock at Riv but Crust has them in stock. If the Wire Guard provides enough "lift" it would enable me to use my Carradice Pendle bag.
Thanks very much for your feedback.

Best,

My experience with a Riv SaddleSack is the guard really only does the thing it claims: protect the brake cable. The bag settled around it in its original position, there was no lifting up or back.

Joe,

Much appreciate sharing your experience.
I may be better off buying a different bag. $40-$60 is a chunk of dough for that piece of nice Nitto wire.

Thank you,
Rich

This device is far too light and flexible to provide any support even for a light bag; it's sole purpose is to be a stand-off to keep the back of the bag from rubbing the stays or brake cable.

It works well for its purpose, BUT! it is prone to fall off at least on some bikes if held in place only by it's designed-in tension and the pressure of the bag; mine fell of into the rear wheel, fortunately at walking speed so that the wheel was not hurt, and I was able to bend the device back into shape. I use mine now only with a velcro security strap.

Patrick, thanks very much for your feedback. Disconcerting that it fell off your bike, so yes, "Your Tension May Vary"! Certainly a number of alternatives available but this one seemed like a simple and unobtrusive solution worth exploring. Thanks again.
