I love my Rivendell, and I love Rivendell owners!
But, I despise this Google group format!
I wish there was another way. I'm sure there is, I just don't know what it is

Rick(?) and Ron,  How are you guys trying to use the group: phone vs computer, in email or browser?

The last few days it has been kinda glitchy when I'm logged in thru the Firefox browser on my laptop. I really miss the old format, but I've never liked adapting to software upgrades, and I still miss DOS. I guess it's appropriate my bikes head badge is a wooly mammoth.

DOS? Ha! I remember working on a Kaypro running CP/M back in the day. DOS would have been a step up!

Here we go again! I don't like da Groups format either, Rick. Love the bikes, love the Bunch. Would love to have a phpBB board.

On Android: I look at the mobile website, then when I want to post I click the 3 dots top right and go to Desktop Site. This brings up the reply function. Not awesome but workable.

I am able to understand and use the group as designed, thanks all.
My gripe is with the sheer awkwardness and HORRIBLE interface of google groups. If you’ve ever used Discord or Facebook groups you’ll know what I’m talking about.

For various reasons, Facebook is not an option for some of us!

Replying on iOS/iPhone feels near impossible. On an iPad it’s tolerable. I’d like to think the bad UX throttles the amount of time I spend browsing on here, that’s my bad attempt at tricking myself.

Is it a generational thing? Me, closing fast on age 67, I hate, hate, hate using a phone for surfing web or email; this hatred includes texting, and I tolerate texting only because it is my daughter's (age 20 1/2) default communication system.

I tried an iPad and thought it merely a very bad laptop. With a laptop I can reply to email and browse der Veb without annoyance, and I generally improve my laptop experience by using a full-size keyboard and real mouse.

Again, is this a generational thing? I expect so: I rather think that we oldsters don't expect to, and don't even want to, be perpetually connected away from our desks.

I do agree: no g-d Facebook. I do have an account on LinkedIn for work, but I hate it too.

Patrick "hate, hate, hate" Moore, who was researching laptops in 1985, so don't give me any guff.

I'm 59 and love that I can do all my computery stuff from my phone, my PC and laptop are stashed away and I probably wouldn't remember how to operate them now. I can print from my phone to a wireless printer, that's crazy!

Still don't get Zoom, though. I've always had a bit of photo/video phobia and this new world of video calling, not my gig.

I still remember the family  # from 1960: CY ("Cypress") 7-9537. I think it was a party line in 1960, but it was converted shortly thereafter.

Rosslyn 219, Northern outskirts of Nairobi when we moved there 1968 *was* a party line, but there were so few subscribers that it didn't hurt much. I recall that we kept getting calls to a butcher's shop, which doubtess explains my enduring fascination with butchers' bikes.

"youse"?  (I know, you meant "us")

Yinz are sure making a point about age over platforms.

I almost hit the "buy" button for 50 custom bumper stickers that said plainly and largely: "I Hate You All" at the end of a long day having to endure the blathering of the large people that accompany small people in early life regarding illness, causes and prevention in the restrictions of isolation and vocational level PPE.

Always good to have a bike ride on my commute home afterwards to clear my thoughts and neutralize accumulated ill will. No one would be able to make out said sticker if applied vertically on my rear fender anyway. Same goes for vertical lettering too.

My maternal family from Appalachia uses the term you'uns(literally "you ones") where in Minnesota we said "you guys", as in referring to two or more people. I love all these nuances of the languages, it's so much fun. Understand people goes way beyond the words, nor are there any words to describe it. Academia and all forms of correct-iits of language and culture are utter nonsense as they claim to have "standards", but they change them with every whim of opinion. Ironically, native languages/cultures do actually have standards, they speak/live a certain way and that's that. It's not up for debate or change, if you don't like it you won't stick around long !
