Whatever you think of the name, the decals are really great. If you aren’t on Instagram, this is what you’re missing out on!

Per Rivendell’s IG account, see photos...

OK, I must have must something that was discussed either on this blog or the blag, but just exactly what is a Platypus (not the animal - I know what that is)?

See photos below. It’s Rivendell’s new mixte, replacing the Cheviot. Due late fall. (We hope.)

Those decals are gorgeous. One of the better ones in a while!

Thanks, Leah!

I rode that dark green one. It's awesome!

I love the decals, love the green they're on. Seafoam? Help me out here, Leah, you're good at the color names.

Let's hope they're not as difficult to see as the animal itself. In 40-odd years of living in platypus territory, I've only seen them in the wild three times.

And BTW, male platypus have poison spurs on their hind legs.

I still think "Platypus" is an odd name for a bike, but those decals are gorgeous!

Seafoam is way more blue, and lighter. It’s like a 1950s color.
This is bluer than moss, but a similar value. I’ve got a plant in my yard with leaves that color. It’s flowers are orangy-red bells.

I love the platypus, and these graphics are incredible.

I saw a platypus in the wild once, and was told that was incredibly rare. Small town, I was standing on a little stone bridge over a shady stream, just enjoying it. “Oh look a platypus!” He slithered down the bank into the water, swam a bit, and dived. I never saw him come up, so maybe he had a little button under the tree overhanging the water.

Leah, You don’t know me, but I’ve just got to say “Platy de Belle” or perhaps “Peppermint Platy” if the color is right....ok ,I got that out of my system, I’ll go back in my cave...John

I'm guessing it has a heavy dose of Chromium (the green I mean), I would mix chromium with titanium buff. Beautiful color!

Excited for the platypus! Here is the graphic isolated, I’m ready to call mine Sonar (like Elmo’s teddy bear, Radar)!

I'd like this to be the color pallet:
platypus-adj-sm.jpg
I guess sage bike with pink lugs filling, glitter red lug lining, and glitter gold decals. Pink bike with glitter gold lug filling would work too.

The decals & the prototype head badge are gorgeous; the name is a head scratchier!

Cheviot was a stretch, but Platypus sounds like a self destructive miscalculation.

I really don;t care about the name myself, but I hope your Platypus doesn't get stolen!  I thought the COP in my case was not taking it seriously, then when I told him it was a Rosco Bubbe; well; I could just hear him saying to himself Seriously?: NEXT!!!

Grant's i the enviable position of being able to do whatever he want's but at the end of the day it IS a business and the bicycle need to sell!

i'll wait to see the final result, but sadly the name might just make it a bridge too far for me, :-(

Haha man, I thought platypus was a welcome return to form after the years of human named bikes (some of which make me cringe).
I the logo, color and headbadge look great. I see no problem with the name. I’ll take an interesting animal over a fictional human any day.

On the other hand, it will probably be a lot easier to spot a stolen Platypus than a TR-r500Sli. Or whatever.(And anyway, aren't we disbanding the police?)

Naming vehicles after animals has a long tradition. While horses, cats, and birds get the most attention, you could look at the upcoming Platypus as attempt at diversity. I think it's kinda funny. Maybe you take your cycling more seriously. Nothing wrong with that.  But if you're going to pass up a bicycle because of the name, chances are more than good you don't need a(nother) bicycle.

Stutz also offered a Bearcat model, which would be a badass bicycle name.

I feel my Fitz SuperMoto could carry that name pretty well. Fitz Bearcat!
