You told everybody how great they are and sold out the entire world's supply of Billie Bars! 😂

I also recently replaced the Nitto Choco bars on my 51 Gus Boots Willsen with the new Billie bars and its now my new favorite handlebar.
Now I want to replace all the Albatross bars on all my other Riv bicycles :-)

I'm getting Albatross bars for my new Clem build from James and Candice at Analog and feel like I'm going old school with the Billie Bars being the new and improved version. But, I did hear that Billie Bars may not be available until 2022. I'm actually excited to try the Albatross bars though as I have ridden drops almost exclusively on road rides with some limited miles with Bullhorn bars on my Wabi Classic single speed.

I think you’ll love those Albas, Doug. But if this is for your Clem, get a short and tall stem. Maybe not as short as mine (I think your grilver is a more compact geometry than the 2019 Clem I have) but probably a 8 or 9, 10, max.

No Billie Bars until 2022?! I lucked out late last night and found one pair at C&L Cycles out of Canada. ONE. BAR. I paid handsomely for it after the $$$ shipping, but I don’t care. These are my perfect bar.

Gotta run, work starts at 0615.

James suggested the Dirt Drop 10 but do you think I need something shorter? It's so hard to know without being able to try a stem/handlebar first.

I went 3 cm shorter going from my Homer (drops) to Cheviot (Albastache).  The dirt drops also have the stem rise, so you may not need to go as short.  The transition from my drops to Albastache is seamless.  The only other non-drop bars I've used are the Boscos, but I don't like them as much because they don't have a front of the bar position, which I like when climbing or tucking in the wind.

My wife has Albatross bars and has the whole bar wrapped, but only uses the bar end cork grip (also the brakes are there too).  The brakes are in the front position on my Albastache, and I probably use that position equally with the bar ends.

Toshi

The reach on DirtDrops is pretty dang short, much shorter than a level "7 shape" Tallux 10cm. I think you're good to go there as a start, but be aware with any kind of pullback bars that you may need a longer stem. Unfortunately this is about impossible to nail down without actually buying and riding, you may not nail it the first time. Good luck! 🤞

Oh, Belle Bars has a nice ring to it…

I found them in a different COUNTRY. It was nuts, there was only the one set, but I woke up no less than 3 times last night, thrilled that I got them.

I had Albatross on my Betty Foy for years. I always thought that was a beautiful bar, and Doug, you’ll love them, I’m sure. This bar comes back further and flares, which is Handlebar Nirvana on the Platypus. You know when your saddle is so good and at such a great angle that you never give it another thought? Never notice its presence? That’s this handlebar. I can ride a hundred miles and still be fresh on my Platypus. I’ll never get tired on it, nor of it.

I’ll keep an eye out for more of them if anyone else is looking!

I'll just be happy to be back on a Riv bike. I'm going with a 1x10 drivetrain and mixing black and silver components. Gonna be a cool build I think.

Oh, it's gonna look nice!  That's what Analog did for me (I said "just surprise me with the colors") except  11 drive train, and that is SO classy looking.  Don't have pictures yet, but for for each "black" there is a silver.  For example, the black  bands of the brake levers with silver levers.  Black front ring with silver trouser guard.  Garbaruk 11 cassette is silver except for the biggest cog witch is black.  Yin/Yang.  I'm looking forward to seeing yours and contrats on getting one.

Well this is completely out of control now. I thought Leah got the last Billie at C&L but now the story is *I* did. Thanks for the heads up, Lucky! 😁

Roberta,
That sounds like a classy looking bike. I look forward to seeing photos of your Platypus as all the ones I've seen are so cool with each seeming to be built with different component color schemes. I'm having fun choosing parts for the Clem but it will be some time before it's ready for the roads and trails.

I got Billie Bars! Leah was right (as usual, it's kinda her thing) and they're awesome. Feel great, look great, and I even guessed pretty close on what stem I would need. Check it out!

Looking good, Joe. From Leah’s enthusiasm, I  decided to put the Billie bar on my Platy and LOVE it. I was afraid it would be too wide, but it is  not. It flairs out perfectly and comeback the proper amount  for the long Platy top tube. It swoops elegantly, like the albatross. There is also lots of real estate for bag, bell, mirrors, phone...

Hi Roberta, I saw your new Platy with Billies and it's amazing!

I agree about these bars, at least for the first short test I've had of them. Love the flare, love the long grip area with lots of room for moving hands around. Next step is to move the brake levers forward a smidge and put some handlebar tape in the gap, I can tell I'll use that forward position sometimes. Great bar. And pretty and light!
