Dear RBW Owners,

I am selling a 56 cm 650b MUSA Atlantis.  It's geometry is listed in the attachment.  I bought it off the RBW list on Februry 1st from the original owner (Brencho).  He said he got it a few years back, around 2017, when the new geometries were coming out.  But he got this as a special order, with the "older" MUSA Atlantis geometry.  And it is a MUSA, made by Waltworks.  I jumped on it because I never see Atlantises for sale and thought this was the perfect size for me.  It turns out to be a little small.  I was thinking of keeping it as a trail bike, so I put 2.35" tires on it, set up tubeless.

I am 5'11" with a 86 cm PBH.  In case it helps, in Surly units, I ride a 56 cm Surly Long Haul Trucker with ample room to spare.  This 56 cm Atlantis is smaller - most or all of the tubes are shorter than that bike - and the Atlantis has smaller wheels (650b vs 700c).

This Atlantis is a premium build.  Here is some info:

bars - I think they are the Albatross
stem - Nitto lugged
shifters - Shimano bar end
grips - Newbaum wrap w/ padding under
brakes - Paul cantilever
brake levers - Shimano
wheels - 650b/27.5" Handbuilt Wheels by Rich Lesnik (Rivendell) w/ Velocity Atlas rims, rear Shimano XT hub, front Shimano dyno hub
Cranks - Sugino triple
Derailers - Shimano XT
Tires - 2.35" Schwalbe Magic Mary (front) & Nobby Nic (rear) set up tubeless
I also have available:
- 2.1" Thunder Burts, and
- 2.25" WTB Trail Boss, Fast Rolling/Tough.
seatpost - Nitto S83 (2 bolts)
saddle - A cheapo I put on after buying it with no saddle. Can include or take off.
pedals - nice metal flat pedals but the name is rubbed off so I'm not sure who made them.  I'd like to keep them if you don't want them.

The bike was basically brand new when I got it in January.  I've ridden it about 20 times.  Its in great shape.  There is just one significant scratch on the NDS chainstay (bad pic in link).  Its not the only scratch but I think its the worst.

Here is a link to an album of photos: https://photos.app.goo.gl/zcQSxtk8sYFYoMmZ9
Please let me know if that does not work or otherwise.

I put the 2.35" tires on it and paid to get them setup tubeless, so I put about $150 into it.  I used it just a little and put a little money into it so I'm asking what I paid: $3000.  I suggest we split the shipping.  PayPal fees are $87 when sending $3000 "to a friend", so I would like to try another payment method - bank transfer or mail a money order (if that is safe)?

Please let me know if you are interested or have any questions.

Thank you.

I would recommend posting actual numbers you get with a tape measure for this, that chart is going to be confusing for people.

Center of crank bolt to top of toptube will give the seattube number Riv uses to size their frames. The toptube is mostly level so you can do a real (not "effective") measurement there, center-to-center. That's a nice bike!

Whoa!  Did I read that correct?  A MUSA built Waltworks Atlantis?  Only of its kind?   Interesting.   -Mike

I figured it was a typo but went looking for WaltWorks anyway and found him on Instagram. He made a custom 20-inch-wheel gravel bike for a little person!

Here are some rough measurements made with a tape measure on this Waterford Atlantis.
I give the measurement from the Riv 2017 geo chart in parentheses when available.
Assume any discrepancies are my own error.

seat tube: 56 cm (vs. 56 cm)
top tube: 57 cm (vs. 57.7 eff. tt)
down tube: 62.25 cm
chain stay: 47.25 cm (vs. 47.5 cm)

Here are the numbers for this frame pulled from that Riv geo chart I originally attached:

frame: Atlantis
size:  56cm/650b
bb drop, mm: 67
top tube slope: 3
rear hub space, mm: 135
stand over, cm: 79.76
st angle: 71.5
ht angle: 71
rake, cm: 5.2
eff. tt, cm: 57.7
front center: 61.76
chain stay, cm: 47.5
wheel size: 584/650b
max tire size: 650b x 2.1"
eff. brake reach: -
brake style: canti/v
double tt?: no
stack, mm: 583
reach, mm: 381

Greetings.
I'm offering to sell this frame & fork for $1400.
The original owner paid about $2500 as a special order built by Waterford.
I paid $3000 for the complete bike.
Let me know if you are interested.
Thanks.

I’d like to say that I own this exact frame and it is excellent. Here are some pluses:
-Excellent tire clearance. I’m running 650x2.3 in tires and maybe have room for fenders.
-Looks. Almost flat top tube and chain stays that are longer than older models, but not super long like the current ones. Also features my fav Rivendell lug set. Head tube lugs are more ornate than the newer version.
-Ride. The bike is fun and lively unloaded, but loaded is where it really shines. I’ve done some heavy loaded touring on mine and it was just a dream. I guess this is a given with the Atlantis.

I waited over a year for mine and paid full American prices for the frame and I’ve felt that it was worth it. This is a steal!

By the complete bike Karl!  :)
I can't wait to build up the 58 cm Atlantis from you. It looks like 2.2" is the widest I can go. Did you ever find a max tire for it?

Thanks Nate!
Yes, I have 2.35" Knobby Nicks and Magic Mary's on the 56 cm 650b so G Ones measuring 2.4" fitting I believe.
In my response to Karl I mentioned a 58 cm Atlantis that also differs from my and Nate's 56's in that it was Toyo made, 700c.
I'm trying to get a finger on its max tire width.  The latest Atlantis seems to max out at 700c x 2.2"

I’ll also just chime in and say I also have a 56cm 650b MUSA Atlantis with longish but not super long chainstays. It’s the best bike I’ve ever owned. Unless it didn’t fit, I can’t imagine anyone regretting this.

Applegate - the Thunderburts are available.  I'm asking $70 plus shipping.  Call it $80 flat.  Does that work for you?
Where are you located?

The wheelset and all other parts have been claimed.
Anyone have suggestions shipping wheels?  I'll search around.

Thank you.
