I'm interested in hearing (or reading) how folks are liking their Roadunos. How have you set up the gearing? Are you taking it on longish rides? Do you have yours set up with racks? Dynamo?

I've been tempted by this model since it was first announced but have not bought one as of yet.

I bought a RoadUno complete and I like it very much.  I have the stock gearing, and I installed a front derailleur and tensioner to use the stock gearing.  My longest ride on it was roughly 40 miles up and down Mount Diablo.  I have mine set up with front and rear racks.  I have a second wheelset which includes a Dynamo front hub and a 7 speed cassette for a rear derailleur set up.  It was shown in one of Will's email newsletter.

Very nice Bill. I remember seeing that setup in Will's email but didn't realize it was yours. I like the idea of the second wheelset with additional gearing. The beauty of the Roaduno to me is the versatility in addition to it being a Grant designed Rivendell.

I've barely touched my Platypus since getting my Roaduno last September. My 47.5cm Roaduno is set up as a singlespeed with a 69" gear and that's been perfect for getting around NYC. Originally, I had only the front rack with a basket, but after adding a rear rack for the Philly trip last week, I’ve kept it on since commuting with a pannier is much nicer than wearing a backpack in the warmer temps. The extra rack added some weight, and did make it a little tricky to carry up stairs, but the bike still feels quick and lively. I commute daily, so I’ve also been considering adding fenders.

Mine is sporting Ahearne+MAP handlebars (610mm) and a 60mm Nitto 90-190 stem:

I'm fully convinced this is my ideal bicycle :)

I set my RoadUno up as a two-speed with drop bars and currently 38mm tires and fenders. It’s a fun bike, a nice departure from the many-geared bikes in the fleet and takes wider tires than my Milwaukee single-speed. Next mod is to fit it with a Nitto front rack and a small bag. Pic from last weekend.

Neal and Tio,
Thank you for the feedback and the photos. Both bikes look so good! I am considering a mustard color one in size 54.5. I am just barely big enough for that bike per the Riv recommendation listed. I would definitely need to use a swept back bar. I just really like the idea of a 2x1 bike so I could have a low gear on steep hills. I'm a big fan of single speed riding but my area is kind of hilly.

Doug, as far as sizing, mine is a 54.5cm, and the fit is good. I've never measured my PBH, but typically the top of my saddle measures 73cm from the center of my cranks, and I have my bars level-ish with my saddle. The extended head tube of the RoadUno meant that I didn't need to use a Technomic stem or the like to get the bars up, which I was pleased with.

I purchased a 58cm Roaduno complete last summer and have been really enjoying it. This is my first bike from Riv and I'm glad that I pulled the trigger on getting it. I find myself regularly opting for the Roaduno on the majority of my commutes around the city (I live in Los Angeles), and I've found that it has a good balance of speed and comfort. After riding it for a few months with the stock gearing, I threw on a rear derailleur and downtube shifter and have been enjoying the 2x1 setup, which gets me up the occasional climb and helps when I'm hauling groceries. With an 87cm PBH, I was torn between the 54.5 and the 58, but after test riding both demo bikes at the shop, I'm glad I settled on the 58cm, which just seemed to fit and ride better. Good luck!

I appreciate all of the feedback. So, if anyone has a 54.5 Silver or Mustard they would like to sell, let's talk.

I saw that one on IG and it is really nice! I'm looking for a less pricey build though.

Campy Record triple cranks and derailer, Paul tensioner and brakes. That's a little bonkers!
