The school I teach at shut down 3 weeks ago. We’ve been on “lockdown” since, but I do escape daily for a ride. I have many bikes and ride them all but the ones the get ridden the most are my Rivendells (custom and my new Saluki). The streets around Seattle are very light and downtown is starting to look look deserted...boarded up windows, mainly homeless people wandering. A couple pics from this weeks rides below. Ride 22 coming later today.

My current riding availability isn't conducive to the goal, either, to the point that I'm lucky if I can get 5 miles in a day and often that's not going to happen. Which is to say I'm out! What people call 30 Days of Riding isn't really a thing I can do right now and I gotta be realistic and not pretend I can. You all have fun!

I took my first gentle ride about 7 weeks after surgery. Until then I was walking (lots) and doing the post-surgery exercises that had been prescribed. My surgeon said I could do 2 things wrong regarding activity: do too much or do too little. I chose to get physical therapy and really focus on a proper gait, and strength and flexibility exercises with the guidance of a professional. I recommend that even though my surgeon didn’t require follow-up PT. I’ve slowly added time and distance to my daily walk and have been extra careful not to over-do-it on the bike. Congrats on your new hip! I hope your recovery is going well.

22 mi / 3,000 ft climbing gravel out and back from home in Columbia to Rose Creek on Italian Bar Road in the Stanislaus Forest. Contractors are working on the road just past Rose Creek, so they have the road blocked with K-rail--an urban touch imported to the Forest. I left my bike at the barriers and walked down to the creek to drink my tea and found photos waiting when I got back. Other photos of spring working on springing. Nathan, it looks like you're enjoying the heck out of your new bike. Getting a Rivendell has improved my life more than I imagined. Looks like it will be like that for you, too. (Your face might start to hurt from the smiling.)
For everyone else, I did 5 rides in 5 days, although I really missed one day and went on two rides yesterday. My rides tend to be 10-20 miles, but my most common route is 12 miles.
Yesterday, I rode to the Japanese House in Philadelphia and took pictures of flowering Cherry Blossoms. I'll post pics later this week. Today, I met a gentleman when we both had stopped at the same place to admire the view, and we started chatting. It turns out that he is good friend with an old acquaintance of mine. You never know what additional delights riding can bring!
Roberta
I'm trying for 30 rides this month also. However I missed 2 days but made up a bit with 16 miles today and hope to double up on rides by riding morning and afternoon for a couple of days later in the month. My bike's not a Riv but set up similar to many Rivs.
<Resized_20200405_171735(1).jpeg>
Its a Trek 950 mt bike made over to my liking.
I have been a Riv fan a long time and actually had a Riv Road back in 1999.Perhaps there will be another one in my future.Paul in Dallas

Fun thread! I've been working from home since March 19th, and I think I only missed one day of riding, maybe two. Today was chilly and overcast. Actually great riding weather. Luckily the paths were a lot less crowded than they have been lately. I snapped this when I stopped for a drink and to watch the stream for a little bit. Also first ride with my blue cargo net from Riv-- love it!

Today I went on two mega exciting rides! Ride one was to the bike shop to take delivery of my Steve Potts Trail Bike. I packed the frame and a bunch of parts on my Big Fat Dummy and eagerly (and cautiously!!!) took it all home to build it up. Ride two was the Potts's maiden voyage, illuminated by the amazing pink supermoon. There has been about a year and a half of buildup to that ride, and I am happy to say that I was not let down! The Potts is quick, agile, and incredibly smooth. I am so looking forward to getting it dialed in and riding it a whole bunch!!!

Next time I'm up there I'll get out a compass and do a quick
feasibility study. It's right off the road. There's such a cool
variety of surfaces in there, but not likely to displace Yosemite
firefall as a photographers destination.

Thanks, Joe and Leah! And in reference to your fender installment, congratulations to you, Leah! The first attempts at wrenching usually involve a lot of choice words, but the results upon completion are so satisfying!Today's ride was a rescue mission! My office plant has been brought home to be nursed back to health. The university where I work has issued a complete closure of facilities (except to essential staff) for at least two weeks, if not more. Up until now I've been going in once a week to water it, but it hasn't been the same watering schedule as before. SO for this mission I installed a front rack (Pass & Stow 3-rail) and a Wald 139 on the Potts and brought my ailing plant, and some other stuff, home. It handled a front load quite well-- I'd say there was about 15 lbs of stuff there.

On my Tuesday ride the center-rear fender bolt went AWOL (thankfully, only a block from home).I try to keep up appearances and all, but I am discovering it to be difficult with the Riv-NationFor one, in this 30-day quest, I’m only averaging about every other day, even in the midst of the Co-Ro Shutdown. Some of that is just life getting in the way, like this bolt, or a long day in the Urgent Care/ER with my son and a nail in his foot, or the stupid weather, which was much to windy for my tastes earlier in the week.Anyways, here’s Sam in his own Urgent Care at my LBS (doing curb-side repairs!). They removed the back fender and ordered a clamp which should be in next week. The Tech That Built Sam up commented “Oh yeah, I remember we weren’t working with a lot of thread on that bolt”.

I’m also discovering that most of you have significantly more positive relationships with your cameras, both in your use of them and their view of you.I believe this image from yesterday’s ride illustrates both points handily. Yikes.

I rode my Joe A. north to under the Betty Ross Bridge in phila and back. 17.5 miles round trip. It's not a particularly pretty ride, but the ride is ever changing --downtown, bike path, street, neigborhoods, MUP, etc. I'm more likely to go this way when traffic is light.
A lot of people out, but I don't understand why walkers and joggers need to be in the bike lane when there's a walking lane paralleling it, just 5 feet away. Oh, well. It's healthier than staying inside.
Roberta
Rode today 22miles, not a Rivendell, but one of my favorite bikes none the less.
This is the only bike I have that has a name; she's called Big Baby and I was riding this bike because I just got the new drip camo handlebar bag from Dark Realm and I am loving it, fits the BMX bars well.
