Hello all,

In the process of procuring a Simpleone frameset from group member Casey in LA and I'm on the hunt for some used pieces before considering buying new.

Going to build it fixed after many inspiring post recently, first time in 10+ years riding fixed gear.

Not trying to build it to the 9's, but open to nicer parts as well.

700c wheelset, 100mm/120mm spacing, fixed/free preferably. (I'd probably buckle for some Phil hubs)

Cantilever brakes, Deore XT or similar?

Crankset, 170-175mm, silver Sugino RD2 or similar?

Pedals, medium clips and straps, MKS Sylvan Track or similar?

Thanks in advance!

Not cheap and not the brakeset, but I have these Paul Short-Pull/Canti levers I'm not using cuz both my Rivs are v-braked now. As new, unmarked, they lived a remarkably short life on a Frank Jones singlespeed I bought and immediately realized I no longer have the knees for. They should be on another Riv uno-bike! $125 shipped.

Update:

Rear wheel procured and message sent to Joe on the levers.

Still after: Crankset, cantilevers *now open to Paul's to match the levers, this is getting out of hand quickly haha*, pedals, and some 700x42 tires

Thanks all for your responses, much appreciated!

I have an IRD Defiant Track crank that I had on a SimpleOne. It's a 46t chainring and with 167.5 arms (I usually have 172.5 or 175, but with fixed a slightly shorter crank is definitely desirable for avoiding pedal strike). I think I might have BB for the crank still, but I'll have to check.

I also have MKS BM-7 pedals, but no toe clips. You could get some and install them on them.

Finally, I have Clement X'Plor 700x40's tyres that there on the SimpleOne for a bit, but overall very low mileage.

Contact me off-list if anything is of interest. Otherwise best of luck!

Everything acquired sans cantilevers, thanks everyone for your help.

If you have some Paul touring cantilevers, holler at me!

Jared: In case you are interested in a lower-market canti option, I have a pair of de-logo'd silver Tektro CR 720s with Dura Ace salmon pads that I'd let go for a lot less than a bike's worth of Pauls.

Patrick "trying to remove Jared as a competitor in the search for Paul Touring cantis" Moore, who is just kidding!

I appreciate the offer Patrick, but I was somehow able to snag a black pair of NR/Touring cantis on eBay a few minutes ago.

Good luck with your hunt, I'm sure a pair will turn up soon.

As for now, short of some Paul Moon Units, everything else for this build can be found at my LBS.

Thanks again everyone who contributed in one way or another, I won't have the frame until ~June so until then my focus is shifting back to my Susie :)

See ya around.

Black, dammit, otherwise we could have shared. I'm glad you found some.
