‘26  150 mi RivSister Intensive


When: Jan 29-Feb1

Who: RivSisters

What: A cycling extravaganza with an ambitious 150ish mile goal


Hello RivSisters!


You are invited to cycle with the Queen of Cycling (Pamela Murray) in the Queen City (Charlotte, NC)! We are looking to get 150ish winter miles of RivSister joy and can hardly wait!


Arrive Jan 29th; meet up with the group for dinner and an evening ride.


The proposed schedule (which is subject to change) is as follows:

8am: coffee and breakfast

10am: roll out for ride (10-15 miles)

Noon lunch discussion

3pm: 2nd ride, ending at dinner

6pm: dinner ride home


Bring wool, layers and lights for riding in the dark. The routes will be available on Ride with GPS. We’ll be keeping a 12-14 mph average, so if you prefer a different pace, you’ll have the route and can go as you please. We will reconvene at the destination.

There are plenty of Air B&Bs in Pam’s neck of the woods - check Plaza Milwood, NoDa, Elizabeth and Belmont. Uptown offers a variety of hotels.

Hmmmmm....I could be interested in RivSister riding fun.  I will consider as I look at my schedule.  I don't mind riding in the cold like we did last year.  Appropriate layers and you are set to go.  I can handle lots of miles but prefer a casual pace 12 ish for exploring.  I'll be looking at my schedule.

You betcha I’ll be there again this year!  So much fun last year. 

I’m a slower rider, so hopefully some slower riders will join too. 

Last year was unusually cold for North Carolina.

Y’all, my silence here does not mean that I’ve ruled out joining you RivSisters. There are simply some matters to work out before I can commit. 

If I DO join, though, Roberta and I will be riding together in the slower group—but having equally as much fun. :)

A reminder that it is January and that means our ride is nearly here! If you plan to attend, we’d love to hear from you. Whether we have a crowd or an intimate group, we will still ride. Hoping for warm temps, sunny skies and no rain!

@Roberta - if I could go I would hold it down in the back with you!  Always nice to have a partner in crime to ditch the route to go warm up with a cup of coffee!

This get-together/ride has been on my mind for a month or more now, and I hate to say that I don’t think I can swing it this year. I’m so disappointed. Please don’t count me out for the future, and if my knotted little end-of-January/early-February schedule opens up at all, I’d love to make a last-minute trip to Charlotte with my purple Platy in the back of my car, but as of right now, I just can’t do it.

Liz, ugh, I so want to meet you! Last minute attendance is FINE. Come if you can!

Since we have a small number attending this year, we want to extend an invite to ride to any RivRiders in the area. That means RivBrothers, too! So the ELB (everybody’s little brother) Ben - get your ticket booked!

I responded on our thread on IG but will do so here for others to see too.  I can't make the Charlotte round up this month.  I hope you have exceptional weather and superb riding.  I look forward to pictures of all escapades...bikes, coffee, sourdough, etc.

The weather continues to thwart our riding plans, friends. This storm is a long one, with cold lingering long after it passes. I dread driving through the mountains in West Virginia; I don’t think it would be safe. And temps in Charlotte will be no higher than the 30s, though one day it shows 41 degrees. 

I think we’ll have to call it. 

But come to Philly and ride with us there at the bike expo in March. At least we have that.

Hi Sisters,
Bummer about the weather but there is always the glorious fall in the North East.  Roberta and I met up for coffee and discussed a possible meet up then.  Could be fun.  Maybe some days on the Greenway or Empire trail?  Things to think about as we look at the snow.
