Hey Everybody!
Last night I rode my Rambouillet to see Midnight Oil play in Los Angeles. While looking for a safe place to lock up, a man in line approached me because he was also a big RIv fan. We chatted, took pictures, but I can't remember his name. I think he said he lives in Palos Verdes.

Anyway, Palos Verdes Midnight OIl superfan Riv dude. If you're here. say hi! I've been meaning to try to make an L.A. area Riv enthusiast ride happen. Maybe this is a good sign!

Cheers!
Ben

Cool
I was at the local Ace Hardware here in San Luis Obispo, and got comments on my BMC Monstercross from Rivvy folks. So, yes I have a Riv too. Jarrod and Ariel (howdy!) We chatted in the parking lot for a while, apparently standing too close to a parking spot that a giant SUV with Texas plates was trying to park in. Couldn't they have just moved 50 ft along and found one of the many empty parking spots?  I digress, but it was nice running into some new folks in town. And two blocks later, ran into Mitch B on his Atlantis (Hi Mitch). Good Riv day in windy-as-heck San Luis Obispo.

Mike supposed to be at work in warm and windy SLO CA

Wow, Mike!!!

Notwithstanding the legend of the RPV Oil/RBW superfan, I was **also** in SLO over the Mem Day weekend (regrets, it was but a quick lunch stop), and lookie what I spotted - who dis?!?

(bad bike-pile photo / am sure everyone here is capable of the quick forensic reading to recognize "ONE OF US")

Sui Generis...not IMHO a less-evolved version of later Rivendells...but I probably wouldn't own 3 rivs if I hadn't owned (and still do) a 1993 X0-1. So maybe the X0-1 was the gateway drug. Still the best orange. Cream-colored tires are quite fetching.

And I was a big fan of Midnight Oil in the late 80's, although I've never seen them live...I'm sure I'd still like them now

I plead guilty on all counts! Great to meet you outside the concert, Ben! Sweet Rammy!

Seeing Midnight Oil live is always a treat -- I've seen them three or four times -- but being able to bike to the show is an extra treat!

Yes, it's a delight to be able to ride to most shows in Los Angeles. My wife and I will ride to see the symphony at Disney Hall, many concerts at the Hollywood Bowl, and pretty much everywhere in between. I've discovered many well hidden or well protected bike racks. Outside the Midnight Oil show was a little sketchy, but we had three locks between two bikes. Luckily everything was still there when we left.

Now, to organize the So Cal Rivendell "Owners and Appreciators" ride ;)

My daughter and I rode to Bon Iver concert last night in Portland ME and happy to report that the longest line we stood in was not at the merch tent or the sushi burrito and cupcakes food truck but rather at the BCM valet bike parking area after the show.
