People on this list have probably heard the rumours and hints around the special model being made by Rivendell for the 10th Anniversary of Blue Lug's Kamiuma shop.
I thought people would be interested in the key points from their discussion:
- The special model was initially requested in 2020 for Kamiuma's 10th Anniversary in 2021, but has taken almost 5 years to become a reality.
- It's conceived of as the opposite of the Frank Jones Sr, the Blue Lug 10th Anniversary Special Model.
- That bike was meant to be a Riv you could chuck your track bike parts on, seeing as Blue Lug had its origins in the track scene.
- Kamiuma was a shop originally set up for people who rode track bikes but wanted to try different types of riding. They therefore wanted this bike to be something totally different to the Frank Jones Sr.
- Blue Lug originally requested a Hillibike, but Grant said they already made them (Gus and Susie), so what about an allrounder that could also be a hillibike?
- What the bike has ended up as, then, was described as a step-through version of the Atlantis.
- It had special 90 degree lugs made for it. Those lugs have been used already now on the Charlie Gallop, but were made for the Kamiuma special.
- It'll be made by Mark Nobilette. 11 only. 10 for Blue Lug, 1 for Grant!
- It will be painted by Joe Bell. Joe came up with a special custom colour. This was also released early by Riv - it's the lovely periwinkle we've seen on the Sam and Platypos! Not sure if the final Kamiuma special will have a different colour - I think it will be a surprise.
Anyway, sounds like the bike will arrive in Japan and be released sometime very soon. I'm curious to see what it will be like!
