Can you share what size fenders are on your Platypus?  I have SKS P50s and it looks like 60s would maybe fit? I would like to try aluminum fenders, perhaps.

Thanks for the help.

I *think* I have these Velo Orange fenders on my raspberry Platy. https://velo-orange.com/collections/fenders/products/vo-fluted-63mm-fenders-700c
And, VO is having a sale, so hurry, hurry.

My mermaid Platy has the SKS fenders, same as yours. I have a fondness for them because I had SKS on my first Riv, my old Betty Foy.

Good luck.

Ha! Yes I was asking because of the sale.  I purchased a gift card on sale last year so I get the sale price anyhow.
Leah, I thought you had 650b fenders that were re-radiused?  Or was that someone else?
I'm just tired of my 50mm SKS fenders moving around and rubbing on my 42mm tires. I prefer  at least 10mm of clearance instead of 8mm.

I have the Velo Orange fenders on my Platy also:  700c Zeppelin Fenders, 52mm - Silver.  They look great and are essential in the rainy PNW.  My vision for the build was to keep it light, thus I'm using narrower tires than on my Clem.  I have the super wide B65 SKS fenders on Clem and they've been just fine.  They're not as fancy as the Zeppelins, but certainly good looking, sturdy and functional.  They clear the 2.0 inch tires (650B) and have front safety tabs.

Good luck!

I've been running the SKS P50s on my Platy and they work great. I even manage to squeeze a 50mm Gravel king in there. I just covers the tire but works great. the SKS are nice because they're inexpensive a light. Just ordered another pair for my Atlantis.

I’m using the sks p50 with gravel king ss+ tires (43 wide). The fenders are just a bit wider than my tires. There’s space between fender and seat stay. Would you like me to measure?

Roberta, no, but thanks for offering.  I have the same fenders.  There is plenty of room for the fenders but the tires rub on the stay clips when the fenders move side-to-side.  I'll keep an eye out for a wider fender or maybe switch to the SKS 55s.

Does the SKS fenders deform slightly if the fender width is slightly greater than the distance between the stays?    Plastic fenders can't be indented.

John,
You don't dent the fenders, you just trim them with a knife or tin snips.  My SKS P50 longboard are narrow at the stays from the factory, similar to the photo below.  It's not so great for keeping things clean in that area, but makes simplifies install.

I understand about the clearances at the chain stays.  What about at the seatstays/brake bridge??

Why rivendell doesn't break out the vernier calipers and tell us is beyond me. But on dads it's 60mm at brake bridge, 59 at the seat stay. And 59 at the chain stay.  Yes I'm still alive, yes if I owe you something I feel terrible, reach out to me.
