Bending king Iris cage?

Hi all,

Has anyone used a king Iris cage with a slightly larger steel bottle?

I just picked up on of these 40oz narrow hydro flask bottles that are a bit over 3" in diameter.

I'm thinking it might fit in an Iris cage, bent slightly. Thoughts?

Hi Adam,

I've [accidentally] bent an Iris cage and bent it back into shape. (I have the stainless steel versions.)

I would try bending the Iris cage to fit the bottle.

Yeah, if I had one on hand, I'd just try it. I'd like to avoid buying it to find out t won't work

You can cram a slightly wider diameter can into an Iris cage, but the “leaf” of the iris will stick out at an odd angle, from my experience. Love the cage! I have them on many bikes. Best hold out there. But they were designed for THE bottle cage diameter.

Mine fit a 3” REI stainless steel insulated bottle with a bit of coaxing, and the cages still hold a standard 2.8” bottle securely.

Wider than 3” would require reshaping, I think.
