I’m considering a 2010 Roadeo. Forgive my naivete; I’ve set up bikes for decades to perfectly match near-identical specs, but my personal methods are ad hoc and not those  those used by bike shops and fitters.

The current owner’s saddle height is 74.5 cm. I measure 75 cm from center of bb spindle to level-top of saddle just above the seatpost; basically the level of my seated sit bones. Am I measuring the right thing?

Riv sold the Roadeo in question as a 57 but the actual st c-c is 55; it is the “virtual” st that is 57 c-c. The 74.5 cm saddle shows an amount of seatpost not grossly larger than that showing on my 1999 custom and its Matthews clone; 1-2 cm max The TT of the Riv is 56 c-c vs 56.5 for my customs.

My 2 last Riv customs were sized at 57 and 58 but I just measured them and they measure 56 cm c-c/57 c-t and 57 c-c/58 c-t. They have slight top tube upslopes but I forget what it was; not much; 3*?

Top tubes are 56.5 c-c.

Question: would a 2010 Roadeo measured 55 c-c actual and 57 c-c virtual be equivalent to these?

Did Roadeos have a more sloping top tubes?

In case it matters: 5’11” with Asian proportions, ie more height in torso and less in legs than for Anglos.

In light of which I cannot refrain from once again quoting:

Behold my child the Nordic man
And be as like him as you can.
His legs are long, his mind is slow;
His hair is lank and made of tow.

Patrick Moore, very proud of his paternal “Nordic” [English Scots Irish] ancestry.

Note: The second and third verses describe ever more decayed and depraved races, the Alpine and ultimately the Mediterranean, “The most degraded race of all,” whose “Hair is crisp and even curls, And he is saucy with the girls.” Belloc was mocking contemporary (turn of 19th century) racial hygiene.

I have a 61 cm Roadeo and the ST measures 61 cm c-t. The TT has a 2 degree slope

75 cm center of bb spindle to top of saddle right over seatpost. I think Grant said that the tt upslope is 3 degrees.

The 1999 showing seatpost exposure over 57 cm c-t seat tube for 75 cm saddle height (above bb) and top tube slope (exaggerated by angle of photo). Bar is 3-4 cm below tip of saddle. (559 wheels with 28 mm tires: 24 1/2” diameter.)

The Roadeo geometry is still on the current geo chart on the RBW website. It states 2 degrees. My Roadeo is also ~2010 vintage, though I acquired it in 2012 as the third owner.

I also measure saddle height as you described: center of BB to level with top of saddle along the ST.

I feel like a call to Rivendell might answer your questions...and I thought they measured c-t when specifying frame sizes.Should dig up the stud book for the 3 bikes I've bought from them with all the paerwork.  Maybe the geometry has changed from 2010 but I'm sure they'd be able to clear that up for you. If it works out that it's in the ballpark and the deviation is OK for you, might want to jump on it, because I'm sure the fact that you can no longer order them is going to affect used prices and/or people might think twice about selling them. My .02 CDN, of course.
