I always enjoy seeing pictures of everyone's various Rivendell's, so I figured why not start a photo thread of Homers (since that is my only Riv). I've included a photo from my first ride on my Homer back in 2022 (with Albatross bars) and a photo in its most recent configuration with drop bars.

Here is my 58 Homer as it was finished this spring. I built this exactly how I feel a bike should be with aesthetics as the priority. To my eye this bike is perfect!

I was lucky enough to find a nicely appointed canti AHH. It came with upright bars, which I did enjoy, but taking it out on "longer" rides, I found I was often reaching out to the curves. It also just rides so much nicer than my other bike, that I wanted to try drops. So I've been following the other thread with interest, even though I started looking for parts for this project a few months ago. Because I'd like the option to put the old bar setup back, I figured it would be simplest to get new cables and everything and leave it attached. Plus, if I like this, there's always another bike to put that other setup on!

I just finished last night and only rode it today for a few miles. I also don't love my bar tape, but it will serve its purpose while I try this out. Bag could use a stiffener, too.

Wonderful images everyone! Thank you for sharing.
I realized that I hadn't had the Hilsen out in a while, and appreciated having some gears.
Out on the trails at China Camp last week.

Still working on my Homer build. I went with this size (61.5cm) and its longer top tube than the 59cm to accommodate the chocomoose handlebars. Bicycle Quarterly style fit. 89PBH. Definitely wouldn't work with drop bars in this size for me.

I picked up my Homer off this list about 5 years ago. I have 4 bikes, including a custom, but I do 90% of my riding on the AHH.

I'll post for my good friend Luis as he rarely has time to read this list.

We regularly ride together, he on his Homer and me on my Sam.

He's had his Homer 4 or 5 years, I forget.

I do still remember how excited we both were when we unboxed the frame and began assembly in my driveway.

He often tells me it's his favorite bike and he's tweaked it to perfection or at least near perfection.

We are always tweaking our bikes trying different handlebars, shifters, grips, gearing combinations, etc, just because we can and enjoy doing so.

Here are a few of his pics.

A teaser photo of a soon-to-be-mine Homer from La Chouette in Paris. Dig those chunky tyres!
They're some kind of Teravail, on Crust rims with a Son front and Deore rear. Hope to have it by early next month.

A short-lived stewardship of a homer from a couple years ago. The ride was fine but ultimately this is a clem L household.

Wow. That’s a good-looking build. Is that fresh Newbaums? I had shallacked mine, but they became muted so quickly.

I’ve had a hunch that my custom AHH was built to fill a Saluki void in the previous owner’s garage. And seeing your bike reinforces that theory. Only main difference is that my AHH doesn’t have any mounts on forks or stays.

I was on a ride with Paul at the Nutmeg Nor'Easter. I asked him how he liked his AHH. He emphatically replied, "this is the best bike in the world"!! Three years later I have an AHH of my own. Paul was right.

best bike in the world!!!  the longer i ride it, the deeper my conviction.  yours is lookin' great tim--so glad you joined the homer club!

and as long as we're on the subject, i've been poring over the 2008 catalog that's currently available on the site for $1 (!) and would just like to shout into the void that i would love to get my hands on one of these homer caps.  or heck maybe enough of us aficionados could pool resources and do a small custom run of the same design!

best bike in the world!!!

Here is my homer. It was initially set up with drops but I went back to albatross. I love how it rides . The best I can describe it is "No care in the world " vibe.  Almost in final version  (Will tinkering ever stop ?? ). I put b68s on my Atlantis and I love it, super comfy from the get go, so might switch on homer too. Also not convinced about dynamo, rarely do night rides .  Also, getting some brass bits next week, will post detailed shots .

Dear JT,
I'll submit my own 57 cm Homer, which was restored and modified by (former?) a list member. I purchased it in 2015 from him shortly after he completed his restoration because he was looking for an Atlantis by then. I fell in love with it then and still think it is my favorite bike.

I'm loving all of these Homer photos. I've owned 5 Riv's and currently have 3 in the rotation. The Homer is a favorite for me. I'm already planning a change to mine. I'm going to change the shifters from down tube to Campy brifters shifting to Shimano 8 speed a-la Ronnie Romance. I'll provide updates as I make the change over.

I don’t have a Homer but my RivSister Sarah Carlson does. And, as she is, admittedly, not tech-savvy (though she lives in Northern California!) she has asked me to post her words and photos of her new Homer:

Here's my Homer, which has a drive train heavily influenced by all the advice I received here on the RBW group. Thank you all who suggested a triple, I went with the 44-34-24 option. WOW! I can get up all these hills that would take my breath away with my other gearing set up. I had to decide if I was going to go full color, in a 90s Lisa Frank Trapper Keeper binder kind of way, or add color in a more restrained way. I went moderate. I added some lavender cable housing, Paul barrel adjusters in pink. and some cable cherries in pink and purple. I can dress it up full color with bags and accessories, or keep it more tasteful with gray bags. It's been a blast to ride.

This is the third iteration of this bike since I took it home last December. It started off with Billie bars, which lended itself to a very comfortable riding experience. However, I felt drops would provide the diversity of hand positions that I’d like for the rides I wanted to do with this bike. After a short-lived experience with SimWorks Wild Honey bars, I’ve landed on Ritchey Venturemax, which have been great so far.

Thanks. I searched through my old email and found I purchased it new in 2013 as a frame set. I’m not sure if it was a leftover at a dealer in Virginia.
I believe it was made in Taiwan. I prefer the classic look of a level top tube.
