I was cleaning one of my bikes today when I noticed some faint stress marks around some of the spoke holes on these Dyad rims—only visible under the right kind of light. Do I have a problem? If so, how serious are we talking? This wheel is only a year or so old, and it’s only been trued once, and very mildly at that.

I might not embark on an epic tour on the wheel but otherwise would not be overly alarmed. I don’t think there will be catastrophic failure but, over time, the cracks (not that I see them) may become more pronounced. Eventually you may find the wheel difficult to true. I would expect many more miles of day rides around home. On the other hand, I enjoy building wheels and might take this as an excuse to build a new wheel.

I’ve had the same experience with Velocity Aerohead rims. Not a big deal, and common to eyeletless rims. You should have plenty of warning before anything catastrophic happens. Just keep an eye on the rims and check regularly.

We've been there with Velocity wheels, a different wheel although the same problem.  What happened to us (on our tandem) was that  the inner tube escaped through the crack just enough to cause an explosive blowout with of course instant pressure loss.  Luckily we were on level pavement and slowing down for an upcoming "ess" curve and were able to stop uneventfully. Had it happened  negotiating the curve, results would have been much different.  It ruined the tire BTW.

We were riding a MUP between condos and a golf course,  the blowout was loud enough to echo off the buildings (gunshot loud) that we may have caused some golfers to miss their shot!!!

Velocity has been very good about either replacing the entire wheel or sending a new rim to our LBS to rebuild under warranty.
