I apologize if this has been covered elsewhere, but I'm searching the forums and can't find an answer.

I have an 85.5cm PBH and am 5'11". According to the new Rivendell PBH chart, I should ride a 58cm New Homer MIT with 650B wheels. But the geometry chart also says that bike has an 85.3cm standover, which is pretty tight even with sneakers on. Is there anyone who can help me sort out if this frame size would fit?

Alternatively, if someone has a 58cm homer and could measure actual standover and just let me know what tires you have on I'd be very grateful.

🙏

Paul,

I think Will and the staff at RBW is now answering the phone again -- not sure about Saturdays.  You may want to discuss your sizing issue with them.  I would guess you'd find their advice helpful.

Thanks Steve. I tried them a few times and didn't get through so thought I'd post here — website says they're swamped building frames. Also figured an actual measurement from an actual bike would make me most comfortable that I don't end up with the wrong size! I'm new to this forum and Rivendell, and am still discovering the variations in model years.

I have 650x38 tires. I think they were pari-moto. Clearly, the top tube is sloped, so I Grammys the ends.

Hello Matt.

Thank you! That is exactly what I needed. I'm assuming it's about 33 where you stand over, which is ~ 84cm.  So this size would work for me, just. Now I just have to wait until a 58cm comes up for sale... which could be a while.

:0) I love autocorrect mistakes, they're often a kind of poetry.

You're right in the middle of the recommended PBH's for the 54.5 and 58 Homers. The difference in toptube length is only a centimeter but the standover is much lower on the smaller frame. I'm not convinced you need the 58cm bike.

Hi Joe.

You're right, I just checked and the top tube is only a CM. Smaller size would definitely be better. 54.5 much better.

Thanks Joe.

** BTW if anyone has a 54.5 Homer frame (or bike) they'd like to part with, I'm an excited buyer. 😜 **

I have a 56cm twin top tube Sam frame I'd be happy to trade if you prefer, as it's a little big on me. The same one Grant rides, I think.

Where are you located?  I'm in Philadelphia if you'd like to try my 54.5 on for size or for test ride.  Not for sale, though.  I love it too much.

My pbh is 83 and top tube is close, but I can stand over it with sneakers, if that helps at all.

Hello Roberta. That is super kind of you.

I'm in Vermont, so too far for a commute (and I'd have to quarentine on the way home) :0|= Maybe when the world rights itself!!!!

Thank you so much for offering!! Paul
