Would love to buy some recent/old BQ issues if you have a stack lying around :)

Thanks!

Hey Nathan,

I have a complete set of "Vintage Bicycle Quarterly"/ "Bicycle Quarterly" beginning with Vol. 1, Number 1 (Summer 2002) thru No.80 (Summer 2022). I would only sell if I could move the entire set. Even though the early issues were thin , the entire group would be pretty heavy, 37 lbs. + -.
I am sure we could work out a deal on shipping. (I would need a few days to research that cost.)

If that interests you, PM me with your zip code and I will come up with both a price for the magazines and the shipping. (Maybe this could go "library" rate? Or, maybe UPS would be better?)

I have a few duplicates I would be willing to part with if you are interested.

Nathan, I am sure my offer is overwhelming - a lifetime's reading, ha. I made a count of 53 issues, 2002 thru 2022 (no gaps).
If you are not interested and someone else on the list would like to stock their library let me know. I would be happy with $1.00 an issue, plus whatever USPS library rate would be.
Regards,
Paul Germain

Unfortunately I don't think media mail applies to magazines with advertisements

Paul, I’ll send you a PM. About a local arrangement.

Thanks

It seems I owe apologies all around. Nathan, please forgive my highjacking your original post.
Also, to others who reached out to me by PM with the wish to purchase my BQ collection, a local pickup wins out over all I am afraid, especially since I know the fellow.
I am sorry for any inconvenience or disappointment I may have caused in the matter.

I'm adding the full run of BQs and the brown Brooks Professional saddle to my all-time Paul Germain heartbreaks. Hoping the list doesn't get any longer!

So sorry Eric. I should have run it by you, but the whole thing began sort of organically. It's going to a fellow who bought Ian's old Atlantis a couple years ago, Dustin Donley.

The early issues of Vintage Bicycle Quarterly are the real prize. I thought a bit before including those. But I am going through a decluttering & repurposing of my old art studio of 43 years and it seems it has spread like a virus to the bike room. (Sometime next year I will be selling my cycling book collection too.)

This is what happens when you turn 78 and the daughter decides she does not wish to deal with it later on.. ha.

Anyway, I will put in a good word for you in case Dustin wishes to "unload" the collection as he reads it. I will write him a note with your contact info that you desire right of first refusal if you wish me to include that on a post-it note inside the box lid. (He's buying the fancy box I used too.)

Uff.  Sent to early.

Eric:  I, too, missed out on the saddle, but happy to share custody of this collection. Reach out anytime you are headed towards Richmond and we can figure it out.

Paul:  Thanks for curating the collection and attempting to diplomatically relinquish it to the community!

as a fan of eric's video on youtubes, may i propose a (long) series of video reading each issue as a retrospective on today, i would imagine there were some prescient topics for example the rise of 'big' tires, gravel racing to name a few

I have a very nearly complete collection of BQ going back to the early issues. I happened to work with a former editor at BQ and I think he gave up cycling after PBP... anyway part of his purge was his collection and I got them all for free!
