I will be there for both your ride (unless it's raining too hard ) and at the show both days, including your session. I’m looking forward to meeting you and others from the board. Perhaps we could all meet at noon at Riv’s booth?

Girard street at Kelly drive is overhead, a bridge.

I live downtown Philly, so if anyone needs local info, I’m happy to help.

Please take lots of pictures.

Seeing the riders and their bikes would be great, pictures of exhibitors' things too! Rivendell is going to be there and I know they were impressed by the receptive crowds and embrace of fellow exhibitors so far from home last time.

I know this year has been hard on many folks at all levels in the bike business and this was such a good event two years ago, I hope its restorative vibes are rewarding to all. There was a much more palpable sense of kinship among cyclists there than I ever noticed or felt at InterBike.

Sad to miss out this year and will be checking out everyones'' postings, participating vicariously.

I'm planning to go Saturday morning. I'm going to have breakfast at 8:00 at Bruno's Germantown Ave/W. Northwestern Ave, then bike down the Wissahickon trail, Kelly Dr. bike path and then over to the convention center (a few blocks on city streets with bike lanes). Fun and scenic ride, no hurry, get there when we get there. Any one want to join me? Let me know.

Hi folks,
I'll be attending the Philly Bike Show on Saturday.  Not sure if I'm biking down from Trenton on my Platy but I'll look for y'all.  I will recognize Roberta and look for you @ 12ish at the Riv booth. This is where I was introduced to Rivs as I picked up a catalog and talked to Will about 5 years ago.  I went home and devoured the catalog.  Looking forward to the show.
See ya soon,
Kate in Trenton

I'm looking forward to meeting new people and catching up with the ones I know.  Andy, I will miss you (we met two years ago).  There's something about knowing who you're writing to that makes these prose interactions come alive.

Also, I'll be on my  Platy, too, for Pam's ride, so won't make it to John's breakfast.  Kate, looking forward to hearing about your biking adventures in Europe and Michigan.

You all got me excited for PBE so I went and checked but SWA tickets from KC are just too expensive for the last minute trip.
I'll definitely plan better for next year.

So this is the route I'll be taking Saturday morning after breakfast at Bruno's, so leaving about 9:00. About 5 miles are on gravel. Not sure if I'll take the Quickbeam or my recently refreshed '82 Stumpjumper.

Forbidden Drive is gravelly, but a wonderful 5 miles of interesting sights.  I'll be on Pam's ride, so I'll see you at the show!

2 more things to note:
Ride your bike to the Expo and stop by the Cycling Savvy Booth and show (or buy) a Bike Benefits sticker and get a raffle ticket to win some fun prizes.  I'm bringing small things I carry on my bike like a John's Irish strap as a prize for example.

Sat night I've invited the Riv folks to dinner.  Everyone is welcome to join.  We'll need to plan a time and place.  Let me know if you're coming and if you have food restrictions, preferences.  If folks are on foot, let us know so we can stay close by.  I don't have a phone but if I'm in wifi I can get messages (980 288 4801) and email.  If someone would like to take charge on this, please do.

Sun - I'll be presenting at 1:30.  Please come see me and my Betty.

I hope to see y'all there.

Saturday's weather forecast is sunny and mid-50's, should be great riding weather to/from the Expo!

BTW, I'm planning to wear my light blue peace wheel shirt and will have my shop sack slung over my shoulder.

Hope to meet up with the ROB members when I'm there,
JohnS

I can hardly wait to hear the stories and see the photos. I’m so envious! Maybe next year I’ll go since it will only be a 10 hour drive.

I was not able to make it this year, but found this shot on another site. Sort of a teaser while we wait for more photos from attendees.

The Saturday morning Unracer ride through the park was so much fun that we did a second one the next morning through the city.  Cold weather, warm bodies, new friends.

I have pictures from the Expo that I'll post tonight.  There were fewer vendors and attendees, smaller booths, but still lots to see and discover.

I was able to ride my bike to the expo on Sunday and I was a little disappointed by the turn out by both vendors and the public. I was surprised mandatory vaccination cards weren’t in affect. Maybe there would’ve been a larger turn out and everyone would’ve been more comfortable?

I had a great time before/during/after the PBE! Before was breakfast and the ride down the Wissahickon “forbidden road” trail and the Kelly Drive bike/ped path. There was a detour through the woods due to a bridge closure on the Wissahickon trail, but fun anyway and the ped crossing of the train tracks was closed, so had to push the bike up a couple flights of stairs to JFK Blvd, fortunately the stairs had tracks for the bike tires. Once there I meet up with Roberta, she got to see my orange QB. Then I talked to the people at Tanglefoot/Analog Cycles about the wright stem’s lack of minimum insertion marking. After that I meet Pam and then I walked around the hall until it was lunch time. At that point Roberta and I went across the street to the Reading Terminal Market and found yummy sandwiches to have for lunch. After that, it was back into the hall and had a very nice conversation with “the man” Peter Weigle himself about Deore XT derailleurs, IRT brake levers and preferred chainring/cassette combinations. Also got to say hello to Will and James! And there were a bunch of awesome hand made bikes on display, Royal H, Chapman (where I was talking to Peter), Pratt, Bilenky and many more. It was also really cool to see the Rene Hearse canti brakes in person, very impressive. Then it was time to go and bike back to the car. Looking forward to going next year.

Here's a pic of my naked QB on the forbidden road trail (normally it has fenders/lights/lil'Big Bens, but for this ride it was stripped down and sporting WTB 40cm Nano tires).

Hey, John, it was great to meet you, see your Quickbeam and have a wonderful lunch and chat.  Those are quite the tires! I might even try Forbidden Drive with those tires.  (Forbidden Drive gets its name because cars are forbidden on it.)

Even with less booths and people, I had a great time seeing old Riv friends, meeting new one and going to some great seminars.

Coast Cycles and Chapman share a booth.  I spoke with Johnny Coast-- nicest guy.  The bikes there were beautiful.  Like jewelery.
Crust Bikes.
Firth and Wilson.  These are "the" guys to go to for Brooks and Brooks saddle repair.
Ron of Rons Bikes and Ultradynaco fame.  Hey, he had some actual tires for sale.  His bags looked so good.  I cannot wait to get one!

More pics.

Riv Booth.  Ah, so wonderful to see Vince, Will and to meet James.  Riv has the best guys.
Tanglefoot (Analog Cycles).  They had a the coolest booth, emulating their VT store. and was always busy.
Pam Murray with her Betty Foy (62,000 miles so far) speaking about Cycling Savvy.  I'll be taking the course either in Philadelphia or NC with Pam!
Free Bike Valet Parking with Donation jar to support the local bike coop.
The full picture of the paintbrush and with dripped paint at the Pensy Academy of the Fine Arts.  Vince had posted only the picture of the drip on Instagram.

There were early morning rides, a party at Keystone Bikes (local, Riv-loving bike shop), and seminars throughout the weekend.

Thanks for the photos and reporting on events and friends. I said before that if this is the resurgent movement of cycling, replacing the old InterBike, we're going to be OK. I get the sparse vendor and attendee population, a resurgence of the virus looked like it might shut things down all together and some smaller, more distant, folks had to do their own reality check before signing up. I am all about getting there next year (barring other unforeseen impediments).

I hope the Riv trio felt their embrace in the East, pictures sure look so. My friend texted me a selfie with Johnny Coast while I was at work Saturday that made me laugh. Two years ago he and Brian Chapman left the two of us in charge of their booth while Brad Quartuccio photographed them and their bikes. I was dumbfounded by their trust, openness and degree to which they pursue their work.

I stopped by the Riv station to say hello and meet the guys who helped build my Platy.  I brought them brownies and gave them each a card.  Met up with my #rivsister Roberta too.  It was a great day.  60 less vendors than usual years but a good time to connect with folks and talk in person.
