I've got a fun project headed my way courtesy of Karl and I'm in need of a headset.  Riv seems sold out so I did some googling and there appears to be a lot of OEM FSA Duron headsets on eBay for around 20 bucks cheaper than a retail box one.  I've bought some OEM takeoff type parts in the past without issue but there are a few things that strike me as peculiar.
  1. What the heck bike are these somewhat nicer threaded headsets OEM on?
  2. Why do half of the listing include a threadless star nut and top cap?

Just curious if anyone else has bought one of these and if it was first quality.  Thanks!

Genuine OEM bike parts for much less than retail is nothing new or to be alarmed about. If in doubt, just pass. Myself I only buy from sellers rated as as a "Top Rated Plus" AND the "Ebay Money back Guarantee".  If I was looking such a HS I'd buy one from a seller like this one, who has sold 9 and 6 are available. https://www.ebay.com/itm/FSA-Duron-X-1-Inch-Threaded-Headset-22-4-26-4mm-Sealed-Bearings-w-FSA-Logo/202900074990?

I think I had a problem once with something non-bike related and Ebay refunded me promptly.
