Have an idea for my stash of unused camera film

Awhile back because of Grant etc. Thought about getting into film cameras. Grabbed a deal on b/w film . Wary of hobby creep and expense of developing i shelved the idea. But still have the film in my fridge, expired date last year. Someone's covid camera sale reminded me about that film.

Came up with an idea for my stash of film. Send film out to people on here and maybe ibob. Request in return, AT LEAST one photo from the pictures you take using the film. What do you guys think of my idea? If i decide to do it I'll start a new thread (s)

Daniel: My 18-year-old daughter recently asked me to help her find a film camera and "how to" books to augment her digital movie and drawing/painting skills (majoring in film/movies at NWU). My brother just  lent her a film camera and some"photography as art" books.She would be delighted to put your film to good learner use.

LMK how I can expedite any exchange.

I just did a film giveaway on my Instagram page (davidshootsfilm) - I was getting rid of expired film and film I wasn't planning to use in the next year. I'm focusing on a narrow range of films and HC-110 as developer for the year. In fact, Philip on this list was one of the film recipients, as was John from Rivelo!

I think it is a great idea.

If you saved any sheet film, I also have two sizes of Speed Graphics...

D/M me and we'll sort out a significant discount for full roll scanning and return shipping as well - and in the spirit of Daniel's gesture, this goes for everyone on the list whether he sent you the film or not.

We're doing our best here to preserve our chemistry with the goal to ultimately bring all of our employees back & reopen when we're allowed. We did a "closed door" processing run yesterday and our customers delivered triple what we expected ... all with no customer service, no cash transactions, pick-up outside the door, etc (!) There was a lot of love there and we're extremely grateful.

Eric, what’s your scanning method?
I’m trying to set up a copy stand and backlight (iPad) to replace my clunky Epson flatbed setup.

As David said, I got a box of his Protopan, and have shot about half. Mostly chickens (very hard) and trees (very easy).

My inherited giant Epson R2400 doesn’t recognize any paper, so I haven’t been able to print anything. I may do a giveaway of the nice photo paper and rolls, if I can’t make it work.

Not sure which Eric you’re asking, but I scan my negatives with an Epson V550 Photo scanner. It has carriers for 35mm and 120 film. Also works as a flatbed scanner for printed materials.

Not the fastest, but the cost to upgrade to the nicer version wasn’t worth the price to me. 

Mac software was recently upgraded and works pretty well.
