Can anyone recommend padded cycling gloves without Velcro--I hate Velcro and bleach. The background is I'm thinking about leaving the flat sections of my drop bars uncovered for a while while I make some adjustments.

Thanks in advance.

I usually end up cutting the Velcro tabs off my gloves… works better with some brands than others due to the way they’re constructed. I’ve even sewn pieces of banding over the cut parts before, but that’s extra work that’s often unnecessary.

I have a padded pair of AeroTech knit gloves that look really nice and classic, but they do have Velcro.

I like the Giro Zero CS glove, no velcro, no padding. I were them mostly for the grip they provide. Good deal on them now at BTD if you like black and size XL.

Sorry, missed that you were looking for padded gloves.

I'm a huge fan of Specialized BG gloves. Their grail series have no velcro: https://www.specialized.com/us/en/mens-body-geometry-grail-short-finger-gloves/p/156948?color=262160-156948. Their customer service is also great --- I wore out a pair of (unpadded) long fingered gloves in 3 months of riding, and they sent me a replacement after I sent a photo.

Specialized Dual Gel = more padding. Cut off the the velcro thingy. Still have to deal a bit with left on hook part attached to the glove. And they have little "pullers" at the base of the fingers that make it easier to get them off your sweaty hands. Cheap here:  https://www.specialized.com/us/en/mens-body-geometry-dual-gel-short-finger-gloves/p/173582?color=271499-173582&searchText=67019-1024&gclid=CjwKCAjw5pShBhB_EiwAvmnNV9YNTkT5g_xph0SJDDJLcdUjfBkjwe-1VOgInIGlj8S9N9ruJLQvcBoCon0QAvD_BwE

In such a scenario rather than buying gloves I wouldn't wear otherwise I'd simply wear a basic inexpensive leather glove from either Kinco or Wells Lamont. I particularly really like the Kinco reinforced Buffalo leather versions.($8-15 depending on retailer). Of course there's no extra padding, nor is it needed as the leather of these is much thicker than any cycling glove has to begin with so it has that natural shock absorbing. Good grip on bare/slick metal. I can wear leather gloves comfortably into the 70's given it's not too sultry.

It depends on why you need padding. For me, it's not just about the padding --- I could ride without gloves, but a physical therapist once told me that he wouldn't advice me to do so after seeing nerve damage from other patients. The placement of the pads to encourage your hands to be in a good posture also makes a big difference and that's where the Specialized BG gloves shine. For around town rides and for riding in the rain, I frequently do without gloves since soaked gloves are much worse than bare hands.

Thanks Piaw!

I normally ride without gloves unless it's cold, but for long rides I will wear those Specialized gloves to help prevent nerve damage.  I didn't know such gloves existed.

Roeckl gloves seem to last, are nicely padded, and, depending on the model, both the long finger and short finger come with or without velcro fastenings.
