Does this also equate to wheelbase?

I store my bikes in the basement in winter and Sunroom the other seasons.  Long bikes can be a problem.

Thanks.

Glorius, Betty Foy, and Yves Gomez were all made before the current long chainstay era. Great, beautiful bikes, but good look finding one. After that it would be the Cheviot. For comparison, a 55cm Chev has 50cm chainstays, whereas a 56 Susie has 54.

Thanks Jim, do they also have the old geometry where one would buy a larger bike than the current ones?  My Bleriot is a 55cm where my Sam is a 51cm.  I will try to hunt down tome geometry charts, I would think think the TT figures would be the most helpful,

Riv Reader 34 has info on the Glorius/Wilbury. It says 50cm for up to 5' 5 1/2", 56 for up to 5' 10 1/2", and 60 for 5 10 to 6 3.

Here's a geo chart showing Cheviot. I have no info on the Foy/Gomez but believe they were the same as Glorius/Wilbury.

Jim, thanks, very helpful.  If a mixte is going to dictate an upright position (although  I don’t understand that) then not great as I do like to stretch out a bit.  Mt Hillborne let’s me stretch, fully upright I am not as happy on it, maybe a wider than B17 saddle would be helpful nut my sit bones are very narrow.  If I but too much weight upright my left side of my buttocks is not happy.  I wish Grant did not make these so hard to find, I appreciate your help.  Been buying Rivendell bikes since ‘97 and like the 659b fatter tire bikes but am hesitant in the long chainstays as I brought an Atlantis in and just did not like such a long bike.

I share Joel's concerns about long chainstays and wheelbase. The geometry on the Platypus has not been posted by Rivendell except for some labelled frame diagrams on Instagram which are hard to read. The 50 Platypus appears to have a chainstay of 53 and wheelbase of 120.6. That's compared to a 45 chainstay on the 50 cheviot. The effective top tube on the Cheviot is 57.5 compared to what looks like 61.5 on the Platypus, if I am reading the blurry diagram correctly. So the Platypus 50 is somewhere between 4 and 5 inches longer than the Cheviot 50, if my calculations are correct.

Matthew just posted this Wilbury, in case you didn't see it:

They don't come available very often.

I have a 47 cm and 50 cm Betty.  I can measure them if you tell me where to start/stop.
