I just got one of those wonderful Mondrian-inspired La Vie Claire jerseys for $20 shipped  and, size Large, it fits me better now than my earlier one did 30 or 35 years ago — tho’ perhaps that was a Medium?

Anyway, I think it is quite stylish and I daresay others don’t. Therefore, a request: ISO size Large (slim long-torso’d 5’11”, 162) old classic team jerseys from the 1980s or before, if you want to get ride of one cheap. This is a silly little fad of mine but I don’t mind paying for it if the prices are cheap.

In particular, I’d also like to replace another team jersey I had circa 1995, from Teve Blad, like the one pictured.

Naturally I’d prefer to have real period ones, but I’ll certainly consider well-made retro-repro ones.

Also, ISO cycling caps from ancient teams, in good condition.

Thanks for humoring me.

And don't tell me that this isn’t stylish (like mine but not mine, from 1985; mine is in the wash):

OG hats might be a bit of a quest. I got this from The Horton Collection:

Cost me 75 bucks, and it was the only one I could find.

Great site for old race fans and bike nerds. You can spend hours there. You can also spend dollars there. You have been warned.

PS: If it were yours, would you wear it? I'm thinking maybe on July 11th (7/11) and June 12th, (the day Andy Hampsten won the Giro.) But maybe not even then. If mine is at all typical, old race team caps were really cheaply made. (Not surprising for cheap-to-free promo stuff.) And they're all hella old, too.

Those are the real thing and far beyond my purse and for that matter, interest. A good period copy will do fine, even a good modern one.

These people have nice retro-pro jerseys at very low prices; I wonder how good the merchandise is. https://freestylecycling.com/cycling-clothings/retro-cycling-jerseys/la-vie-claire-retro/

However, for a pure whimsy purchase, for team lycra jerseys, I think I’ll limit my search to the really cheap used stuff atn the bottom of people’s closets.

Aside: I just bought another LS merino wool jersey from Wabi Woolens, since these won’t be around much longer. Deep red with white stripe, full zip. Really, the loveliest jersey I’ve owned, even better than the 4-5 earlier WW’s I’ve bought.

Patrick, A great resource for all things vintage clothing is Poshmark ! I've found numerous nice barely used or even never worn clothing that isn't made anymore. https://poshmark.com/search?query=cycling%20jersey%20vintage%20large&type=listings&src=dir

Even ebay is good, narrow your searches to say large men's vintage cycling jersey.
Like this, on desktop software. The searches can be customized on the left hand menu.

I would never buy new "vintage style" jerseys either, as the fabric just isn't the same, not even close. There's a certain feel and distinction to the fabric used back then, and they way they were stitched and designed. One of a kinds !
