Hi

This is somewhat Riv related.

I have a nice 2013 Salsa Cassaroll 60 cm frame for sale. It was built up a a low trail conversion with a Soma LT Touring fork. The package includes the frame, Soma fork and Cane Creek 100 headset. All are lightly used and in excellent used condition.

The Salsa fork was “lost” by the dealer that did the conversion and is regrettably not available.

$400 plus bike flights shipping.

John.

By what logic do you figure that a for-sale post for a Salsa frame, Soma fork, and Cane Creek headset is "somewhat Riv related?"

Sorry if I offended you. Please disregard.

It's an entirely reasonable listing. Rivendell punches above its weight in terms of influencing bike design. The Casseroll has many Riv-ish characteristics and is an affordable compromise. I hope that the RBW list is more about an approach to cycling than brand loyalty.

It's even a Riv-related (Romulus, San Marcos, 537 Riv customs) color. So there!

John,

I concur that it is acceptable here. The most entrenching parallel to many Rivendell lovers and critics is in has RIM BRAKES and not Disks. Plus the Canti-brakes allow for plus sized tires.
Plenty easy to just ignore posts that do not interest you or focus on interests outside of you interest.

My only critique is that you did not use the standard for sale indicators that the moderators prefer (FS, FT, WTB).

My Gus fundraising post on another list was RED FLAGGED 🚩
as a fishing for sale post which I happily removed. I am assuming the request came from one of the many many moderators on that list. Furthermore the individual contacted me in a DM through my email which I greatly appreciated vs a public list reprimand. The moderator 👩‍⚖️ also softened the blow by acknowledging that various lists have different selling guidelines and s/he was only speaking on behalf of one.

My apologies to anyone here who thought my post was an attempt to solicit sales outside of the standard format.
3 Rivendell’s might be posted here but will be individually presented with full details and sale price.

Sincerely
Ryan Hankinson

I have the same bike (except I have the original fork and front rack). It's great and very Riv like. I think of it as my geared Quick Beam. Sure it's not lugged, but otherwise it's got a lot going for it.

+1 on it being appropriate for this group. Steel frame with braze-on eyelets aplenty, takes fenders, has clearance for 700x38c tires without 'em, and has an aftermarket low trail fork. It might could even be converted to a 650b so's you can run some chubber rubber to get sendy with your friendy. Any way you slice it, this bike could be a super fun project that's a little easier on the pocketbook than a Roadini or whatever.

Salsa has since gone in another direction, but I, for one, have a lot of love for the production brands who do interesting things with steel frames in almost every production cycle.

There's good chance that the proceedings will get used up at rivbike.com too :)
