Or, any bike not currently using the center brake mount hole on the fork. Here I am with my new SKS fenders and all of the assorted nuts / bolts that are supplied and I think something is missing. As this bike has v brakes I am unable to follow the directions on the Riv site as the featured bike uses center mounted brakes - there is already a nut & bolt used by the brake.  I think I need recessed nuts (for the front fender at least but none are supplied by SKS. Am I wrong?
I appreciate any insight &, Happy New Year!

Hi,

You probably need one bolt there - I think an m6 x 25mm would work. Something like this:

You can probably find the bolt at any decent hardware store. Good luck.

You don’t need a recessed nut. Just go down to your local hardware store and get a bolt long enough with a nylock nut. And a couple of washers. Should cost you less than $5. I’d get stainless as well.

Hmm, I was thinking something more like this?

Oh, o.k.  The supplied hardware includes a long enough bolt with ample nylon bolts & washers. I just assumed that if the fork was drilled for a recessed nut I should use one. Like these?

Nopers, the flat washer will butt up against that lip at the back of the fork easy peasy. The only reason it's recessed is the fork crown was designed to be used on caliper brake bikes, too, which uses the recess. You have the parts you need, no worries.

SKS doesn't provide recessed nuts, correct. Sure you can buy a recessed nut, but the path of least resistance is going to the hardware store for the parts as Hoch suggested. AliExpress shipping from China takes forever. Recessed nuts nuts work great for brakes as it helps keep from rotating, and it looks "nice" , yeah but in regard to fenders , yeah so what ?

Why a Clem has a recessed brake hole .... well that's a silly idea considering there's no caliper would work with it.

My Platypus has a recessed hole on the back of the crown as well. When mounting the front rack I put the bolt through the rear so the head ended up recessed and the nylock nut is on the front. No real reason - though it does look a bit cleaner from the back (where I see it most, especially now that I have a basket and bag on the rack). Apologies for the heavily zoomed/cropped photos.

I agree that the Sheldon's nut works great...looks clean....and allows to easily remove and replace the fenders if you need/want to.
