I’m looking at a 2010 Roadeo offered as a size 57. The owner was about my height and has close to the same saddle height (74.5 versus my 75 cm from center of bb to top of saddle just above seatpost).

I think that this Rodeo is what Rivendell called a 57 cm model; can anyone confirm that based on the following?

Seller’s measurement of virtual (= level) tt is 57 cm (geometry chart says 56.5); my size.

My principal question bears on the seat tube length. Seller measures 57 cm from center of bb to top of extended seat lug, and 55 c-c; I daresay it’s 56 c to top of top tube.

Sellers Roadeo is only 1 cm shorter in the seat tube than my 1999 Joe (size 57 c-t and 56 c-c) and, again, seller is/was just about my height (tho long legs versus my long torso) and has a saddle at just ~5 mm lower than mine.

To me, this quacks like a 57. Right?

My customs are respectively (57 cm model, 1999 Joe Starc) 56 cm c-c and 57 cm to top of top tube; and (58 cm Matthews IGH road bike) 57 cm c-c and 58 cm bb center to top of top tube. Both have virtual top tube lengths (actual tts are slightly sloping) of 56.5 or 57 top tubes c-c.

Thanks.

Ben: your subtle reasoning and ironclad logic have convinced me. Thanks.

(I burst out laughing when I read your post.)

On my Asus Pro Art 27" monitor that I can use to measure images with, I see 55.2 or 55.3cm at the intersection of the center TT and center ST. With the seat tube being 28.6, and the TT appearing the same, take half of that, 14.3mm, add to 55.2 or 55.3cm and you get 56.63 or 56.73 to the top of the tube, but the lug extends just a bit above that, so it's called a 57cm.

Not that it's going to make any difference as it's literally splitting hairs !

The final and clinching argument! Talk about logic!

Thanks, all, for tolerating my insecurities and reassuring my doubts.
