Roberta suggested the tape be used on this bike ("Road Bike For Dirt" versus the "Road Bike For Road," so when I swapped the bar out for a wider 44 I installed it, and added orange-y accent bottle cages (not just for the orange but because I wanted side-entry cages).

And I did get another, this time 7401 Dura Ace rd to shift to the inside 25 t cog without rubbing the spokes; don't know why the 7402 suddenly started rubbing. It shifts wonderfully once again.

And just because, a better photo of the Matthews RBFR.

Looks nice. The pic is off in that the tape is very bight and your Matthew’s looks almost black and I know it’s green .  I do understand that you see it differently. Or It might be my monitor. I like the additional Pop of color in the water bottles. I Had bright pink tape on my Joe Appaloosa for three years and I loved the additional color.

Looks very good, a real glow in the dark color

That was the 4th attempt to get light and background as good as I could without special setup. Here's #5; green still too dark, but at least view-side is not in shadow.

Still a glow in the dark color, even the postage stamp sized pic has the tape jump out at you.  I think it looks great, just a glow in the dark.  Don't get the tape dirty.

Yeah, it's very definitely a neon orange, not a tasteful muted orange, but I do like it. However, the contrast in person is not quite as emphatic as in even the best-lighted of all the poor photos I've taken. Perhaps a little palm dirt will give it that muted hue so highly thought of among the more discerning classes.

I am debating whether to spring $$$s for a bright orange seat bag, Revelate Viscacha style (I use that as model because I owned one), but probably ought not to; I do have 3 sizes of nice courier bags. I removed the SQR Slim because I wanted to raise the tail lights (Seculas, one battery, one dynamo) to bolt them to the rack bosses -- they had been zip tied below -- and even the high-mounted and flattish "Slim" would cover them. A skinny tubular Viscacha-style bag would leave at least most of the light unobscured.

When I put together my Bleriot about a dozen years ago, I used black/yellow Cinelli cork bar tape. Some people hate it, others like it. It's certainly lasted pretty well - the yellow has faded somewhat, but otherwise the tape is still in good condition:

That looks closer to the other pics you posted. It is a bright orange but I like the happiness factor. All my bike bags used to be black— very classic looking. I liked it. Now though, my bags are blue or yellow or another “ happy” color ( I don’t use bar tape anymore). Ride and smile!
