Quick question, apologies if dumb.
I don't recall Skysight showing thermal heights higher than cloudbase, in the past, but I see it rather regularly now. We can't thermal into clouds legally in the US, so thought I'd ask if anyone else noticed, or maybe Matthew S could shed light if catches this post.

It’s just weather forecast. Use your own judgment.

I'm curious about a change in a forecasting tool behavior. Not how to apply it.
Thanks,

Thermal height is not constrained by cloudbase. Else you wouldn't get clouds!

I am not aware of any changes in that calculation recently.

There is at least one change, recently, relevant to this discussion.

That is the addition, on the point forecast page, between the pink "soarable height" line and the black "thermal top" line of some puffy little clouds.  At least, I did not notice that until this season.  I like it, because it is a visual communication of just why the "soarable height" is limited at that time and place.

Thanks Matthew, makes total sense, I just swear I hadn't noticed it in years past. Maybe I just didn't catch it on the right day.
