Hi all,

We're now seeing RS41s in some areas with a 'X' prefix (manufactured 2025) which are not currently being decoded by auto_rx.

I expect these are transmitting a new subframe format that has been known about for a little while, but that we didn't expect to see in the wild so quickly. rs1729 has a partial decoder for this, but was looking for some more examples to confirm a few of the fields.

While auto_rx will currently detect these, start a decoder, and then timeout, it should still be possible to get auto_rx to record some IQ data and maybe even raw hex output using the config options here: https://github.com/projecthorus/radiosonde_auto_rx/blob/master/auto_rx/station.cfg.example#L517

Any recordings, either in IQ or FM-demodulated audio would be much appreciated to help confirm this is what we're seeing, and get support added to auto_rx!

The latest auto_rx testing branch has support for these sondes added in.

Could stations near known X-series launch sites please update to the latest testing branch (docker images will be available within the hour), so more data can be gathered from these sondes?

There are still some questions to be fully resolved, including:
- Is the transmitted time is in UTC or GPS time.
- Is the current approach of determining numSV correct.

Please be prepared to update a few more times as changes are made in the decoder.

I am very sure that it is UTC time.

Yep, very confident of that now!

I've raised some issues on the rdz_ttgo_sonde and dxlAPRS-SHUE repositories so we can hopefully get some consistency between how the different sources of telemetry handle this. Currently both are applying an 18 second offset, to convert 'back' to GPS time before uploading. Instead I would prefer that what is supplied in the telemetry is uploaded, and reported as such (e.g. the ref_datetime = UTC field that auto_rx is uploading).
