Hello,

I have built a Radioberry board and I am using piHPSDR.

RX is working perfectly (I can see and hear signals), but I have a problem with TX.

When I press MOX or TUNE:

  • The software switches to TX

  • The waterfall shows a carrier line

  • But I have NO RF output at all

I tested with:

  • Dummy load connected

  • A second receiver very close to the antenna output (no signal detected)

I also connected PTT (pin 13) and TX is activated, but still no RF output.

I installed this image:
cl025_radioberry_v5.12.img

My question:
What is the  reason and why TX is not working?

Thank you very much for your help.

This is a frequently encountered issue.

1. It may be necessary to adjust your preamp bias.

2. Alsamixer settings should be configured to ensure values are sufficiently high to modulate your transmitter.

3. I utilize SparkSDR with the transmit drive and transmit tune parameters set to 255. Additionally, I configure the audio settings to correspond with the installed audio card or dongle. I use the tune button. You should see a tx spike for your RF .

We need more information. Where do you looking for RF output? Radioberry SMA output or you have PA attached? If PA is attached what type of PA is this? Any LPF after PA in use? MODE settings during the test? MOX is almost same as PTT. The difference is like between momentary switch (PTT) and rocker switch (MOX). Radioberry will not transmit any power out until you press the CW key in CW mode or microphone produce signal of your voice.
For testing TX better to use TUNE, just make tune level is set. For setting TUNE level go to MENU, TX, TUNE and SWR. Mark "Tune use drive". Check TX Dr slider position on main page. Radioberry output is usually between 19 - 24 dBm depends on PIHPSDR version and Radioberry board. If you use SMA 50 Ohm load on Radioberry output, I'm not sure you can detect RF output.
P.S I'm sure Radioberry RF output is not detectable just placing antenna next to SMA. Tested it with TinySA.

Thank  KK7OEA  , your information was very useful. All is well. In conclusion, the  dummy Load at the output of the radioberry  blocks the broadcast.
