Lithuania has some of the highest reported infection cases of tick-borne encephalitis in all of Europe.


I would definitely suggest making sure you're up to date on your TicoVac shots before making your trip to Lithuania.

From what I read, those who got the vaccine for Czechia won't need a booster until 2026.  

I'd start the series as soon as possible since it's 3 shots over 5 months. 

The vaccine can be very expensive but we found that a pharmacy that could acquire the vaccine and then it's covered under Medicare. In our case, we went to the pharmacy at Publix Grocer Store.

If you have a pharmacy that will file your insurance for you, it's infinitely easier than going to a specialized place like passport health here in chapel Hill. After I had paid something like $900 for the first two shots, and argued endlessly with my insurance who had said I would pay $40 but then change their mind, I got my booster shot at Publix pharmacy on Peace Street in Raleigh and I think it was $0. 
Fortunately for me, the pharmacist initially said that they did not carry it but then said that she would see if they could order it. They could and it took a week or so. So if the initial answer is no they don't do it, ask if they can order it.
