List-abuse: dentist recommendations

Hi everyone!

Sorry for the list-abuse, but does anyone have any recommendations for dentists /  periodontists in Cambridge and the surrounding area?  There's no point in my asking for NHS ones because they seem to be extinct around here, but any tales (good or bad) that help out with selecting someone capable of fixing teeth well would be great!  It's be nice if they didn't cost the earth, but hey nothing is cheap any more, so not the first consideration.  I'd just rather not hire a charlatan...

It does do NHS, but still is not cheap.

I've twice had work done abroad rather than using Cherry Hinton Dental (once because of where I happened to be travelling, once because of cost and because I was no longer satisfied with them). 

On both occasions the foreign dentists took significantly better x-rays (strand inside a circular thing wearing a lead apron rather than point portable thing at cheek while biting on tiny film) that showed I needed different treatment (showed an extra root that had been missed during a root canal, showed significant decay hiding under a filling).

I'm now going to be looking for a different dentist,  with a fairly strong mind to go abroad for routine checkups.

Shelford dental surgery is the first dentist I have been too where they treat you gently. Together Dental were awful.
