GB3RU, the analogue UHF repeater located in Tilehurst has been returned to service (how many of you even realised it was off?)

All credit is due to Denis, G4KWT and Ian, G8NXJ, who visited the site and removed the repeater for repair. Denis discovered a transmitter fault which was found to be due to tarnished pins on the VCO pcb. The transmitter was tested with a 24 hour continuous soak test. Ian took the repaired repeater back to site this morning (Sunday 7th) and all seems well.

All it needs now in some use - why not give it a go!

Chris, G4CCC, on behalf of the Thames Valley Repeater Group.

Hey Chris, great work team- if it’s quiet I wonder if it’s worth considering again linking with RD and/or BN?

Best wishes
Tom

would be great if RU can be linked (perhaps through BN) to Echolink

I wonder if there would be a case to link RU to AllStarLink? Having played with it on my own simplex node, the audio quality is far superior to that of Echolink. Personally, my node is connected the ā€˜FreeStar’ network most of the time, but there are others which might breed more activity on the RF side too.Ā

Kind Regards
