Dear Members,

Nick Kerner M0NPK is kindly offering an 'open QTH' for the weekend on 25th & 26th October which is the weekend of the 'CQWW SSB event' (see https://www.cqww.com
We are planning a club entry in the multi-operator, all-band, high power category, similar to the one we did in March when we managed nearly 2,000 QSO’s.
You can arrive at Nick's QTH in Binfield from 9-10am on the Saturday and keep going as long as desired until the contest ends at 2359 on Sunday.
Nick has a very good station, so even if you are not a contester it is very interesting so see it in action.

-No experience required, all participation welcome and encouraged.
-CQWW SSB is the biggest international contest of the year with around 10,000 entries each year as well as many more casual participants from all corners of the world.
-Experience being on the sharp end of a pileup
-QSO rates of 200+ per hour are possible
-Opportunity to work DX, eg VK & ZL by long path or USA on 160m
-3 elements on 20m-10m
-1Kw power available, 160-10m
-Kitchen facilities for tea & coffee plus microwave
-Seperate area with sofas & tables for  social interaction and general chat.
-Saturday evening there will be chilli & baked potatoes on offer so if interested please let Nick know by email to nickk...@btinternet.com so we can gauge numbers, (partners welcome).
-Overnight accommodation (in a caravan) available for the super-keen.
-4m net on Sunday morning
-6,  4, 2, 70 & 23cm available for anyone to use with rotating beams on a 60ft tower.
-Just come along to socialise if you like.

Weather permitting there will be some testing of military antennas going on in a nearby field, they are
- Lo band VHF log periodic antenna (RACAL)
- Clark mast HF vertical (10m) with ground plane
If any of that interests you, please do come along and join in.

If you’d like to come along and could give us a heads up on likely times then an email would be much appreciated but by no means essential, all are welcome at any point. However, as our plan is to operate with 2 operators, (1 running & 1 spotting), for as much time as possible out of the 48hrs of the contest period so we can accommodate as many operators and preferences as possible, an initial game plan would be helpful. To start with, we’re planning on roughly 3hr shifts with 2 operators per shift so, if you’re able to volunteer for any of the following shifts or you would like to express a preference for certain times then please let Nick know on nickk...@btinternet.com

Hi Nick,
thanks for a great weekend, with good food, lots of radio's and nice conversations around the campfire!
Thoroughly enjoyed it, hope we can repeat it.
Great to work together with the Bracknell club as well and meet some of their members.

How did we do in the end? 2500+  contacts? 400+ dxcc over 6 bands?

I received this from Slovenia, there was a S5 operator with CR3A on Madeira who forwarded this, We have some work to do if we want to beat that ….

Hi Michael,

Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for the grape juice, went down very well. We ended up with 3,054 QSO'S after some good runs in the last few hours and I saw a rate of 274 Q's/hrs at one point. Not sure about the final DXCC & Zone count but I'll forward the log later to you, David, Paul & Gopan so you can a check it and finalise the list of operators. Cheers NK
