I am sad to pass on the news that Chris G0FDZ passed away yesterday evening. Chris was a good friend to RADARC, giving us a couple of talks on his passion, microwaves. Chris had received an award for the first radio amateur to make a QSO on every band we're licensed to use.

Chris died last evening in the local hospice, after a long illness.

Difficult day today.

Chris really was one of a kind. He will always be an inspiration to me. As David says, we were fortunate enough to meet him at RADARC at his wonderful talks. His unassuming nature belied such raw talent. If I recall correctly, he recanted how he made some intricate microwave device operating at 10s of GHz using little more than a drill press in his shed. That's not to say his gear was in any way heath robinson. It was always beautifully constructed. Again, Chris would always bring amazing displays of the equipment he'd built. A true pioneer.
