Difficult day today.
Chris really was one of a kind. He will always be an inspiration to me. As David says, we were fortunate enough to meet him at RADARC at his wonderful talks. His unassuming nature belied such raw talent. If I recall correctly, he recanted how he made some intricate microwave device operating at 10s of GHz using little more than a drill press in his shed. That's not to say his gear was in any way heath robinson. It was always beautifully constructed. Again, Chris would always bring amazing displays of the equipment he'd built. A true pioneer.
