hi there,

I just installed in RabbitMQ server 3.8.8 and Erl 23.0 on my machine, which is Window 10. When I tried to start the server using command 'rabbitmq-server start' to start the server, I got an error message window saying "The code execution cannot proceed because MSVCR120.dll was not found. Reinstalling the program may fix this problem."

I tried to search this DLL to install it myself, but no luck. I did find the some results of this DLL when google it, but can't trust it.

So, does anyone know what's the best safe way to resolve this issue?

Thanks,
Mike

A quick search on the net shows this is a C++ dll. A few things come to mind:

- Are you installing things with the appropriate permissions? In the corporate world, sometimes we don't have all the rights we're used to at home (like local admin rights).

- Have you attempted to uninstall and reinstall Erlang and RabbitMQ?

- Are there errors in your install logs(s)?

- Have you tried installing the C++ distributable?

Just some ideas to help you.

Have you tried “choco install rabbitmq “?

https://www.rabbitmq.com/install-windows.html

It just works for me.

hi Luke,

Thank you so much for your response. I think before my erlang and RabbitMQ didn't get installed properly, also it could be the installation files I downloaded were not good.

Anyway, I re-downloaded files from links of this page https://www.rabbitmq.com/install-windows.html#chocolatey, and first installed Erland as an admin and then install the RabbitMQ server, this time, i can see the installation is complete. Right now, RabbitMQ is running as a service on my machine.

Regards,
Mike
