Dheeraj:

Are you asking if this Windows Server 2016 machine is viable as a client PC?

We have not had any problems using this operating system as a client.

If you are using it as the server for the QZ Tray API, I again expect you will not have difficulties.

If I'm misunderstanding the question, please let me know.

Kind regards,

Hello Lite,

We will be using it as a Central Print Server and our printers will be connected to it. Our client PC, will then connect to the print server via Websocket ( ex. qz.websocket.connect)
The complete spec of the Server is as follows :
  • CPU: Intel Xeon E5-2667 v3 (8 cores / 16 threads, 3.2 GHz)

  • RAM: 16 GB DDR4 (2 × 8 GB)

  • Storage: 256 GB SSD

  • RAID: H330 (hardware RAID)

  • Network: 4 × 1Gbps

  • Power: Dual PSU (750W, redundant)

  • iDRAC: Enterprise (remote management)

  • OS: Windows Server 2016 Standard

Regards,

Dheeraj

Dheeraj:

Can you tell me more about your intended deployment?

Generally speaking, the client PCs have the printers connected locally, and they use QZ Tray and websockets to get the print data from your web application server.

The web application server is usually not the PC with access to the printer(s).

We do offer a "print-server" deployment for QZ-Tray where QZ-Tray runs on a local PC with access to the printers, then re-routes calls from the web server to its IP address instead of localhost, but I don't think that necessarily lines up with you are planning.

Please advise.

Kind regards,

Lite

The complete spec of the Server is as follows :

Secure connections will fail unless special certificate considerations are made.

I would recommend testing the "Remove localhost bindings" and deploying the cert to a workstation for testing.

If you're happy with this setup, you can repeat for multiple workstations.  Please make a backup copy of the %PROGRAMDATA%\qz\ssl directory so that upgrades can use this same cert.

Dear Lite , Tres

I got information that we already bought certificate for  QZ Tray using email/account frederic...@coopergroup.fr and our team had tested an integration 2 years back and we managed to make it work on a windows 11 PC and also on one linux. We plan to do the same procedure but we now want a confirmation if we can install it on a " OS: Windows Server 2016 Standard " machine ?

Thanks for your help.

Hi,

Yes, Windows Server 2016 is supported, however if this is a shared Desktop environment it may pose some challenges.

Is this a shared Desktop environment? Here's our docs on that... https://qz.io/docs/multiple-instances
