cannot install qutip proeprly

 python 3.8.5 is already installed in my system. I tried to install qutip according to instruction given in qutip documents below result appear:

import qutip.testing as qt

in more particular I followed these steps:

1.   Open the anaconda powershell as the command prompt is not recognizing conda due to some error while adding path of anaconda to environmental variables(I cannot make out the error)

2.   2. Run conda init

3.   After it ran some commands(guess of updating and loading ), i typed option y from y/n

4.   Then I ran command conda activate qutip-env

5.Then i ran conda install numpy scipy cython matplotlib pytest pytest-cov jupyter notebook spyder.   Various installations started automatically

6..      After that again i have to chose from y/n I chose y: Again packages started downloading. Ultimately many messages were displayed with the last line showing (qutip-env) PS C:\Users\username>

7.Then I came out of anaconda powershell nd eneterd into command prompt. there after loading python I tried to run the import command which gave the above error.

Please help.

Let me as you some questions.

What's is the error message?

Is this the first time that when creating an env in conda you get an error?

Are you use conda create -n qutip-env python=3 for isolating QuTiP installation?

If you use Windows as Operating System, QuTiP recommended installation on Windows requires Python 3.5+, as well as Visual Studio 2015

https://visualstudio.microsoft.com/visual-cpp-build-tools/

Another option is to try Linux Subsystem For Windows (Ubunto).

I saw the problem.

I just tested this on my Windows10 system and it's working.

Please do the following:

1. Please install VisuaStudio: If you use Windows as Operating System, QuTiP recommended installation on Windows requires Python 3.5+, as well as Visual Studio 2015
   Link :https://visualstudio.microsoft.com/visual-cpp-build-tools/
2. Then, in your QuTiP anaconda environment run pip install qutip

That solves the problem.

The problem you were facing was due to the absence of compilers for C/C++

That is solved by installing VisualStudio (please check for the C/C++ compilers in the Visual Studio Installation)
