Here is info about my System:
Dell Inspiron 15 Gaming 7577
Intel Core i7-7700HQ CPU @ 2.80GHz
Intel HD Graphics 630 (Kaby Lake GT2) As Discrete
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4GB GDDR5 As Discrete
Ubuntu installed on my SK hynix SC311 SATA 128 GB

Currently Trying to install Qubes on ST1000LM035-1RK172 drive

I've tried installing already for a couple of times and practically my attempts are through UEFI. Tried twice on Legacy with no hope as almost the same thing happens only that it freezes on a different file but still related to "salt".

One thing to note however, is that the laptop instantly goes to SupportAssist OS Recovery when I try to boot the Qubes bootable USB through UEFI and Secure Boot is enabled. It happens no matter what I do so I just disabled secure boot and was able to make it get to the installer.

I already checked https://www.qubes-os.org/doc/uefi-troubleshooting/#f1 but I can't seem to find a case related to mine and since "Installation freezes before getting to Anaconda (Qubes 4.0)" seems to mean actually freezing before even getting to Anaconda, which is different to my case, I didn't try the workaround.

At this point, I feel hopeless so I really feel like I could use alot of help finding a possible workaround to this. It's sad that I didn't encounter anything like this when I tried installing Qubes on a Dell Latitude 3470.

Try disabling your NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4GB GDDR5 As Discrete,
either in UEFI config or with nouveau.modeset=0 in your kernel options
line. If that works, don't ask me why- I just know it's helped others.

Thank you for this! Although it may have not been the direct solution, it still led me to the actual solution to the problem which is adding 'acpi=off' to the options before installation. And should I encounter an odd problem involving graphics or whatnot shenanigans then I will definitely apply that nouveau.modeset=0 upon reinstallation.

Installation through legacy is almost complete. I'll try this through UEFI next. Cheers!

Hello,

Would you please tell me the steps, step by step, to make Qubes 4.0 work on the same laptop as yours?

Much thanks!
