Suggestions (for forum posts)

I am not so familiar with google groups but I don't have a google
account and have noticed that sometimes people only reply to the group
and don't include the posters address.
Assuming its possible to "respond all" from withing gg can I suggest
that we encourage each other to not only not top post (which I am 200%
for) and also respond all so that those who are emailing in can get all
the responses, and respond to those responses (if that makes sense) via
email.

For those of us in that section of the population; you can subscribe to the
group without having a google account and get 100% of the emails in your
email application of choice.

Thanks for the response. Perhaps I am a bit confused but I have
subscribed to the mailing list but some of the responses only seem to be
in google groups, not my inbox, so in order to reply I would have to get
a google account no?

I took another look at the mailing-lists page as it has indeed been
awhile since I looked at it and noticed:
"Keep the mailing list CCed throughout the conversation unless there’s a
special need for privacy (in which case, use PGP encryption). This
increases the likelihood that a greater quantity of useful information
will be available to everyone in the future."
That point seems to kind of answer my question/request in that everyone
needs to CC (I am assuming there is a way to include the posters email
when responding via the web interface). If the poster isn't cc'd then
they will not see the response in their inbox, or be able to respond via
email.

No, a Google Account is not required. Many people who use the Qubes
mailing lists never create one. If you're subscribed to one of the
lists, you should be receiving every message sent to that list. (Of
course, you won't retroactively receive emails that were sent to the
list before you subscribed.)

I think you might be misreading that section. It says to keep the
*mailing list* CCed throughout the conversation, not individual posters.
In general, mailing list users should use "To" and "CC" appropriately.

Really? I must be doing something wrong.
I had origonally sent a message to
qubes-user...@googlegroups.com and got a confirmation message
but I dont get any messages except some of the responses to my posts
that I sent to qubes...@googlegroups.com
I will read the mailing list page again because I think I have missed an
important detail

Hmm, just a suggestion: if people aren't expected to Cc: everyone
involved in a thread when replying, maybe it'd be better to set the
google groups to only allow incoming messages from subscribed email
addresses only? The error message is not very informative, but it would
avoid issues like this one, by forcing people to subscribe before asking
questions? Then it's less user-friendly, so there's a choice to be made,
if it hasn't been made already.
