qubes os on a notebook from ONE

Hello,

i would like t use a older notebook for qubes os.
But i can't get WiFi working and Ethernet only if the net-VW has the SD-card-reader coonnected.

Could you please help me.

Hahaha from those last two entries, it looks like your Ethernet controller
is a sub-function of your card reader. Maybe your BIOS is doing something
strange. Do you use the card reader for anything? If not, I think the best
approach would be keep doing what you are doing and assign both the card
reader and Ethernet to your netVM.

Make sure you've installed the Intel wireless firmware to the template
you're using for your netVM. If it still doesn't work, you need to provide
more detail.

Do you know how i can use that sd-card reader in my usb-zone and keep wifi in the net vm?

Look at the entry for "NetVM (extra firmware)" in

Some options:
- contact your manufacturer and ask them to send you an updated EFI image
that allocates devices properly so your SD reader stays on 04:00.0 and NIC
has a BDF like 05:00.0
- use a USB based SD reader instead
- investigate the no strict reset option for attaching PCI devices (see
https://github.com/awokd/qubes-doc/blob/patch-15/configuration/assigning-devices.md/#pci-passthrough-issues
for my draft/working copy of the documentation; official/approved link at
https://www.qubes-os.org/doc/assigning-devices/ if that first link is
dead.)

I will try the intel firmware thing tomorrow.
Today i did a bios update of my "One Gaming notebook K56-302" but the allocation is still the same, i think the error is not known there. I will try to get in touch with the manufacturer.

do you have any hints for me?

Only in general- If you tell them you are running Qubes, Xen or even Linux
they might claim it's an unsupported OS and not bother to fix it, so if
possible try to figure out some way to see those BDF allocations in the OS
that originally came on it. It could also be a hardware issue, either with
the way they wired the motherboard or those Realtek devices, but that
would also be on the manufacturer.

Anybody else have experience getting a manufacturer to address an issue
like this?
