I installed R3.2 yesterday and everything looked and worked fine, but today when I started my machine up, I only have the VM Manager window - no 'task bat' and no 'start' button.

How can I get them back without doing a complete re-install?

Some questions:

* Are you using Xfce4 (the default desktop environment in 3.2)?

* Have you reboot the machine before or after having this problem? In other words, was this the first reboot since installing? Does the problem persist across reboots?

* Did you do anything you can think of that might have triggered this problem? Any configuration changes?

Some questions:

* Are you using Xfce4 (the default desktop environment in 3.2)?

Yes, I am

* Have you reboot the machine before or after having this problem? In other words, was this the first reboot since installing? Does the problem persist across reboots?

Yes - and it persists across reboots.  When I first installed it, the taskbar and button were there, but after my first reboot, were gone.

* Did you do anything you can think of that might have triggered this problem? Any configuration changes?

No changes. New and inexperienced user and was very cautious - trying to follow tutorials as closely as possible.

Which tutorials? It would be good to guard against any
incompatibilities created by them. We need to know what you did, or
what you remember you did, in order to diagnose the problem 100%.

I realize this is a bit old, but I found that that the xfce4-panel wasn't running/started. Running that in Dom0 made the panel re-appear.

Hopes this helps someone.
