I have Qubes 2.0 on my laptop. 8 GB ram and about 100 GB ssd with plenty of room.
I want to install a .deb file. I clicked the "Open With" icon then clicked the "Software Installer" icon.
I received the message: Failed to install file. Failed with unknown error code.
I want this file installed only on this one specific VM I made. How may accomplish this task?
If it matters, the file is a crypto currency wallet that I want only on that one specific VM.
Thank you.
Thank you.,

Francesco, it is actually not ethereum or bitcoin. it is another crypto coin. Would the information you linked still be valid?

The link that explains how template VM work yes is valid. But the link to split the ethereum installation into two different VMs should be heavily adapted to your specific case that you did not mention. But studying it will help you to understand the philosophy behind Qubes.BestFran--

You're right, I've missed this link and focused on the latter one.
> I appreciate the reply but what is the advantage of "splitting" my virtual wallet between 2 VMs?
The private keys are stored in a VM that is (or at least should be) disconnected from Internet and other potential sources of complex untrusted input that could compromise it. So, it should be more resistant so some exploits if some parts of code are vulnerable.
> As Vit pointed earlier, I am using Qubes 2.0. Would it be helpful if I got the most recent Qubes?
I guess we aren't discussing anything that has been substantially modified since the first release of Qubes. (But I've started using Qubes at R3-RC1, so I am not sure.) The main reason for update is security. Version older than R3.2 do not receive any security updates from the Qubes team.
> I noticed the most recent Qubes (3.2) uses "beta" Grub 2.0.2 so I am afraid to use anything labeled "beta".
I haven't noticed that, but it has worked for me well. And I neither remember nor can find massive Grub-related issues in this mailing list, So, I guess it will work well for you.
