Hi !

I have some problem to install Qubes OS with USB.
When I boot on USB key with UEFI mode, Qubes OS install freeze after initrd.img. I have message like this :
Xen 4.6.1 (c/s) EFI loader
Using configuration file 'Xen.cfg'
vmlinuz : 0x00...
initrd.img : 0x00...
0x00...
0x00...

I try to resolve this problem with solution 1 (add /mapbs /noexitboot) on this page : https://www.qubes-os.org/doc/uefi-troubleshooting/ but I have the same result.

I try too solution 2 (add -- efi=attr=uc), it's not working but I have a different error message :
efi: EFI_MEMMAP is not enable
esrt: ESRT header is not in a memory map.

If I boot my USB key with Legacy bios mode, I have a graphic bug, I can see nothing, the screen display distortion.
A bit like that : http://image.shutterstock.com/z/stock-photo-colorful-abstract-background-texture-glitches-distortion-on-the-screen-broadcast-digital-tv-433387279.jpg

Anyone has a solution?

Thanks for your help,

K.

Configuration :
Dell Latitude E4310
BIOS A14
Intel i5-520M
Intel Graphics 4500
4Gb memory
SSD 500Go
TPM 1.2

If a program is unresponsive, try closing it through the Task Manager. You probably already know that you can access this tool by pressing Ctrl+Alt+Del, but for a quicker route, you can also use Ctrl+Shift+Esc. If your laptop won't even let you do that, then it's time for a hard reset. You will get more ideas and other useful information in Dell Latitude E4310- https://guideusermanual.com/product-name-latitude-e4310-manual&po=344616&lang=English

Thanks captain obvious. Next time, try to read the problem entirely and make your own answers instead of copying / pasting them from PCMag : http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2420581,00.asp

how did you burn the iso? I suggest using dd in linux, or using rawrite32.exe in windows.

have you tried textmode install, or booting with nomodset?

what is your gpu? Can you try with just onboard gpu during install?

I have one of these laptops, and it works fine.
Have you enabled HVM, IOMMU, TXT, etc?
