greetings! when i noticed that the new rc5 did so far not generate any serius bug report so far, i thought to myself that now may be the time to give it a new try (rc1 wasnot usable for me, so since then, i did not touch the rcs until now).

i had the idea to use my lenovo t430, which works very well with qubes 3.2, as installation machine, but in order to be safe, not only to install from a 32gb usb stick, but to also use a (256gb) usb stick as target. the installation process started fine but finally failed shortly with an anaconda error when i selected the usb stick and clicked continue. possibly it is not a qubes error but an anaconda error.

same hapoened, when i tried this usb combination with the same usb sticks but my lenovo l670 notebook.

Hello kai

can you remember what the error was?
I held off for a while, but I'm now using rc5 on main machine, with no
issues. All works fine for me.

Hi Unman,

the error message is "ValueError: Device 'sdc4' not in tree", what is puzzeling, when I select the target media directly from the graphical list of proposed instalation media.
The last line in anaconda, causing the problem is
File "/usr/python3.5/site-packages/blivet/devicetree.py", line 184, in _remove_device raise ValeError("Device %s not in tree" % dev.name)

The error occured both wuth a patriot supersonic xt 256 gb usb sgtick and also happend with a scandisc ultra usb 3.0 with 64gb.

HTH, all the best

noone interested in this bug?

same bug also happend with today final odficial version 4 final when trying to install kt on a ssd.
so it seems more generic and important than i fist thought.

so i will issue a new bug report on that one, because it is now no more limite to
usb stick as target for instaling.

all the best
kai
