Is it possible to connect a USB device like a flash drive or CD-ROM drive to a Win10 HVM in Qubes OS 4.0.3 and if so how ?

When I plug a USB CD-ROM drive into the pc with Qubes OS 4.0.3 installed, I can see it appear as two devices under "Qubes Devices" (the device icon in the notification area). The first one appears as "sys-usb : Mass_Storage_Device" and the second one appears as "sys-usb:2-8 - USB2.0_External_Mass_Storage_Device_[NUMBER]".

I have tried to connect both to a Win10 HVM - one at a time. None of them show up under "This pc" or in Windows file manager.

Then I tried to connect both to my work-domain. I was only able to connect to the second one, and was able to see all the files on the device. So at least that seems to work.

I have then tried to copy a folder from the device by using secure copy and paste, and paste it into the Win10 HVM. Although Qubes OS said that the folder was copied, I couldn't paste it into the Win10 HVM.

So therefore my question is: Is it possible to connect a USB device like a flash drive or CD-ROM drive to a Win10 HVM and if so how ?

I have found another way to get the files transferred to a Win10 HVM.

1)  Connect the device to another VM.
2)  Right-click on the folder or file that shall be copied to the Win10 HVM.
3)  Choose "Copy To Other AppVM...".
4)  In the window that turns up: Write the name of the Win10 HVM.
5)  Click on "OK".
6)  Open the Windows file manager in the Win10 HVM that the files are copied to, and go to the Documents folder. Here is a new folder labeled "qubes-incomming". In this folder you'll find all the copied files.

Quite easy.

In oder to find the files copied to Windows 10 in the usual location Qubes_incoming
in the user directory, qvm-prefs default_user has to be set to the Windows login user name.

If the default_user property is set to the wrong user name, the files are stored in
C:\Windows\System32\config\systemprofile\Documents\QubesIncoming\<sending-VM-name>
