I've picked up two issues which may be related, the first issue is that the installer will not perform a md5 check, and goes straight to Anaconda. The second problem is that Anaconda won't allow me to reclaim space on my drive, I select the drive I want to install to and the reclaim button still remains ghosted. I've downloaded Qubes 3 times, hopefully from different mirrors but the problem still persists.

Good point, although I am curious what checksum it should compare
against? I guess the intended way is to verify the image before it is
copied on to an installation medium, or verify the block device after it
has been written.

And don't trust any medium you haven't verified in this manner... :-)
