I did a scan of the documentation but did not see this new feature fully explained but if I missed it I appreciate a link. Here is my issue. The only thing that appears to work with the new sys-usb is my external mouse. Everything else appears to be broken--my internal touchpad, my external hard drives, and my external USB device, all of which worked under 3.0 (where I had no separate usb VM). When I plug in my mouse I get a dialog that asks if I want to connect it and once I say yes it works fine. But if I plug any of the other devices in nothing happens. Is this the expected behavior? Do I need to track down drives for my devices and if so where do I install them, under the new sys-usb?

TIA

In R3.1, it is possible to:
- attach a mouse (as you've noticed)
- attach block device (like USB stick) - you should get a notification
about new device, then be able to attach it from Qubes Manager
- after few modifications[1] it should be possible to attach a keyboard

Other devices would also work, but only accessible from USB VM (for
example webcam).

Ok. Logitech USB mouse works fine. I have an external USB Seagate hardrive that worked fine under 3.0. When I plug it in I do not get a dialog box and there is no listing for the drive in block devices. [Block devices recognize my two internal HD properly.]

The other USB item I have is an external USB wifi. If I understand you correctly this will work but only with the the USB VM? I cannot make an external USB wifi my default networking hardware?

It should work... Check kernel messages in sys-net, maybe you'd find
there something interesting.

You can switch your sys-net VM as a netvm for others (like sys-firewall,
to have it pretty much globally). But it requires some more changes, at
least enabling network manager (see "Services" tab of sys-usb).
