Hello,

After the machines sleeps, or sometimes even on initial boot, and after the userid password is entered in Qubes the mouse causes very unstable and erratic screen issues. I can't do anything but find a way to re-boot. Sometimes a re-boot fixes, sometimes not.

So the problem is intermittent. Link to video:

Thanks,
Patrick

This sounds very much like a graphics HW problem, not something to do
with the mouse. Which machine do you have? Is the GPU a recent Intel
something-or-other?

Hi Andrew, just saw this. My config is:

HP Envy 750-177c Desktop PC with Intel Core i7-6700
Processor,16GB PC3 DDR3L Memory,2TB SATA Hard Drive,
Integrated Bluetooth 4.0 and Wireless LAN 802.11a/b/g/n/ac,
Graphics & Video: Intel Integrated 530 Graphics

Since it has an integrated graphics do you think my next move is to get an external graphics card? And if so, which one? I looked on the Qubes system compatibility and although didn't see my exact processor, I noted that someone made a GeForce 9300 GE card work with an I7-2600, as an example. Reference: https://www.qubes-os.org/hcl/#hardware-desktops

So is that the recommended step? If so, do I simply install and then within BIOS disable the integrated graphics?

Thanks!
Patrick

Patrick Bouldin:
Search the lists; IIRC you just need to use a newer kernel from
unstable, and maybe also add some Xen boot parameter (something like
"preliminary_hw_support"). Your hardware will ostensibly be
better-supported in the near future (Qubes 3.2), so this pain should be
temporary.

I'm curious if this solves your problem at all--maybe I'm wrong about
the cause :).

PS: Please don't top post.

Hi Andrew,

Just getting back to this. If I search for "Preliminary-HW-Support" as you suggested, I see this one: https://groups.google.com/forum/?hl=en#!searchin/qubes-users/preliminary_hw_support/qubes-users/ttStZXy_PPY/-mmQ6PfdBAAJ

Please confirm the remedy on that post - do I need to completely re-install from my Qubes iso image? Is there a way to do this after the installation?

Thanks,
Patrick
